Still no US player payment plan from BetonSports

BETONSPORTS UNDER THE ANTIGUAN MICROSCOPE

Battling betting group has the attention of the Director of Gaming

With still no payment plan in sight for the US players that BetonSports has agreed to block in order to appease the US Department of Justice, the beleaguered betting group remains under scrutiny by its Antiguan licensing jurisdiction, the Antiguan Sun reported this week.

The newspaper reports that the Director of Gaming in the Financial Services Regulatory Commission (FSRC) Kaye McDonald has given her assurance that the Commission is closely following the controversial affairs of the gaming company.

Months after a US court ordered BetonSports to repay money owed to their US clients, the company has yet to announce its plan for repayment, and there have been numerous complaints voiced by disgruntled former clients of the company, the report continues.

In a statement issued on August 11, the BoS Board of Directors gave an assurance that the company would “cease its operations in Costa Rica and Antigua as soon as practicable; pay any liabilities to staff and creditors in an orderly manner and repay balances due to US customers in an orderly manner.”

Since then, it is clear that the company has closed offices and laid off staff, but arrangements to meet its obligations regarding US players remain unresolved.
