Proposed consolidation advantageous for both successful companies

Two of the most successful and established online casino and poker room groups in the online gaming industry have announced plans to create a new Internet super-group.

Trident Entertainment Group out of Kahnawake in Canada is in discussions with regard to a proposed merger of its operations into Gibraltar-based Carmen Media Group. This would result in a Carmen Media Group line-up of 10 top online casinos, 4 poker rooms on the Prima Poker Network and a sportsbook powered by LudoLogic.

Oster will retain executive responsibilities for the North American, Canadian and Asian markets. She commented that more emphasis would be placed on expanding Japanese activities.

Ashley Head, CEO of Carmen Media Group said that the proposed merger would enable the businesses to maximise and combine their strengths into one operating unit going forward.

All these mergers and acquisitions have made my head spin! What's behind this trend? Why are so many of the best casinos doing this?

Belle Rock group (whose customer service has already declined) merges with Trident group (which has superb cutomer service)... I have a feeling that once 'merged' things are going to be quite rocky for all players concerned. (re: Palace Group/Piggs merger).

I don't think that this will affect Trident Lounge's outstanding support since they will be maintaining these offices.

The mergers that we're seeing are ways in which operators are combining their strengths in order to be more effecient. That's the plan - let's hope it works

It's natural for industries to consolidate after they start maturing and learning what it takes to do well in a market place.

It happens in every industry. You have the big companies, and you always have innovators claiming some market share.

It is an important time for us to make our voices heard in a constructive, sensible way since these larger companies will be listening.

I think this is a nice merger, Trident will have a good opportunity to influence Carmen in a positive way.
