    Thumbs down Stupid Casino Tricks?

Playing at an RTG I hadn't played at for a while, it seemed busy there because the jackpots were rising, not going crazy like I've seen before, but just steadily going up one cent at a time. Most of the randoms were pretty high, and after playing a few different games I figured it out. Scamtastic.

Noting the random amount in the lobby, I loaded a game and the random was at what the lobby said. Without me playing it was climbing steadily upwards. I let it get up a few dollars and went back to the lobby, the amount was the same as before and reloading the game the random was back to the original amount. All but a one or two of the games were doing this, and the games with dual jackpots were only rising on the small one.

With the randoms being a lot higher than usual (some were in the 1,000 range, some were 11,000) it made me wonder if this is to entice play, and how does it affect the chances of hitting one? Perhaps this is why they are so high.

I did manage to get my balance up to 125 from 50, cashed out, and will never play there again.

My opinion... Scumbag casino tricks. Accredited one too. There is a hint in this post as to who it is.

I am aware that the Random Jackpots at RTG casinos are often buggy. They have a tendancy to run up quite quickly and then reset back to the value it supposed to have been on. InetBet / ClubWorld and a few other RTG Casinos are NOT exempt from this happening. There are quite a few threads on the forum relating to this.

I don't think there is one RTG casino that doesn't have a graphical glitch at one time or another on there random jackpots.
Jackpots moving at lightning speed, only one jackpots moving and jackpot does not move at all. I personally don't think its deliberate more so a server side problem.

I just forget about the jackpots and play a game I enjoy and if I hit one, I hit one. It's just a little extra bonus :P

    Cheers

Matt, please don't allow common sense and facts to spoil the thread.

It's much more fun to lose your money and then post here accusing reputable operators of being scammers.

This is a long standing issue, so the real scam is that RTG have had plenty of time to fix it, but for obvious reasons it is "bad for business" to NOT have the appearance that the amounts are steadily rising in a way that makes players think the game is "busy" with other players feeding the pools.
The more obvious bug where they rise at lightning speed is when this subtle bit of trickery goes wrong, and it forgets to act in a "realistic" manner consistent with the intent of making players feel it is a true representation of other players steadily building the pot.

The issue is not confined to RTG, and I have seen similar issues with Microgaming slots, especially the Mega Moolah series. However, nothing as BAD as I have seen on RTG.

I recall a case when Mega Moolah went SERIOUSLY wrong, and showed the MINI as being well over 1000, and the MINOR well over 3000. This persisted for about 2 weeks, and suddenly it was fixed, a blindingly obvious "step change" in the distribution of values that makes the explanation that it was simply down to "random chance" a complete load of bollocks - but MGS had so little respect for our intelligence that they thought we would believe it!
I am sure RTG think the same about their players, and do not realise that a few have seen right through their dismissive explanations of some of the extreme oddities players have noticed, and asked about.
Since the obvious lies have been seen through, the problem is that players think that many of the more subtle things they see are the result of more subtle "scammery" on the part of the casino, rather than genuine chance events, or unintended results of how the internet works.

If opertors always told the truth, and no-one had ever found them out in a lie, players would be much more willing to accept pretty much any explanation as a genuine offer of the truth, rather than an intent to deflect attention from some trickery.
