Card authorize then fail on there end?

Has anyone else had where there bank tells them the merchant authorized the card. To only get an error that says
Unable to complete transaction (communication failure).
Now this place has agreed to go ahead and call my bank. For them to release the authorization, but what I'm afraid of most. Is like for instance we had a lady a month or two back. Have an issue with Quicktender. Telling her that her card wasn't authorized by them at all. To only I'm going to guess settle. So I'm just hoping that when the expire the authorization that hopefully it's the end of it?
Otherwise might i be safe not to touch the funds for at least a week to make sure it's not going to settle?
Just never had this before just because most of the times if I get an pending authorization on my end. It means they actually got there hold and money.

Forgive me but I haven't had all my coffee yet...did the charge show up at the bank and not the casino?

This has been common with webwallets, and sometimes the money really does get stuck in limbo, and you can't just wait for the failed charge to "drop off". I have never heard of this with cards though, so in the first instance, you shouldn't touch the funds until the authorisation drops off. If it doesn't drop, you WILL then have to contact your bank and/or the merchant to fix it.

This might be a result of recent changes by Mastercard and VISA regarding uncoded transactions. Transactions should fail outright if they are being blocked, but since they have just introduced this it may be going wrong, and recording an authorisation rather than outright blocking the transaction.

Well the funny thing is then I went to a competitor site after I had this happen. I ran my card just fine. Something tells me there is something wrong with Virtual-Webcard anyways. Lordy knows I can't visit there site to verify that this transaction won't complete anyways. I think after the whole processor melt down I'm guessing customer service sites aren't working the way they should?

I just recently had a major problem with virtual webcard. They sent through authorizations from the mid November at the end of January. They said through the casino that it had been a bad batch, but that was after the fact. They did not notify anyone of the problem and just processed transactions over 2 months later. It screwed up my account and my accounting. Lucky I have overdraft on my bank account, but it triggered so many overdrafts it cost me hundreds of dollars. I was not happy with them and wish my preferred casino would not use them. They said it was unacceptable, but they could not do anything about it. Just to clarify, I did not use virtual webcard, used my visa, however they were the processor listed on the transactions.
