i dont mean to sound harsh but in such a dire situation dont you think that maybe the 50.00 could have been better spent rather than playing online casinos?
This is where the problems can start. When you lose a huge part of your life, you are faced with one hell of a lot of time on your hands, and this can lead to an increase in an expensive hobby, and at the same time that a decrease in disposable income comes along.
Although it would make things inconvenient for many, including me, there is a VERY STRONG CASE INDEED for the banning of CREDIT cards for online gambling transactions, and allowing ONLY DEBIT CARDS and other means where the stake is PREPAID, and not "borrowed".
Casinos are VERY good at enticing deposits by the offer of promotions, and it would be best to have SOME controls to prevent the potential development of problems, yet provide for the minimum inconvenience to players who feel they have the right to spend THEIR money as they see fit.
I am somewhat surprised that the UK Gambling Commission did NOT issue guidelines or regulations that would seek to prevent the use of borrowed money for gambling online. We consider a online casino that grants a player a line of credit to be rogue, yet this is effectively what is happening when CREDIT cards are used. A number of casinos even INSIST that players at least REGISTER a CREDIT card, and some, like Go Wild, INSIST on it being USED at least the once in order to qualify for what should in any case be NORMAL service, eg. prompt payment of withdrawals.
I think a CREDIT card ban would help in the wider sense, as it would mean more COMPETITION, and casinos would be fighting for a smaller pot of money, and this would be money the player has AT THE TIME, and while promotional absolute amounts might be smaller, the QUALITY would improve, perhaps higher percentages of bonuses, or smaller qualification requirements for post wager reward promotions. On top of this, the industry would increase its moral credentials when it comes to efforts to combat out of control gambling sprees (going "on tilt").
