Angry fraudulent transactions

Hi there,

Need advice asap from anyone who can help. I joined 32 vegas and eurogrand last week and i deposited a total of£395 all of which has cleared my bank account. All was well or so i thought until i checked my online banking this morning and saw that my bank balance is diminished to the tune of £455, none of which i spent.

On further investigation, it appears that every single card transaction that i have made on these sites have been duplicated with a little extra added on to them for good measure. I checked my transaction pages on the casinos and they are not listed, my bank has given me the authorisation codes and they were taken on the same days and just after all other transactions, like i say with a small amount added each time.

These transactions were not and never will be authorised by myself and i Can ill afford to lose such a huge amount of money. I have contacted both casinos several times this morning and have got no joy with either, they are saying that as they are not listed on my transactions that they dont exist when clearly they do!!! They are illegal and i want my money back.

Does anyone have any advice at all as to what i do next, is there an authority that I can report this to and recover my money.
many thanks

I have had that happen before. It usually corrects itself within a month. I think the processors sometimes accidently duplicate transactions but only process one. When the bank/credit card sees that the remaining funds haven't been processed in a certain number of days, they return it to your available funds.

Same has happened to me also except I find using my credit card they add an addition few dollars for the transfer. Instead of 45.00 deposit there is an extra charge of $3-5 dollars for the transfer fee by some casino processors using my credit card and it shows on my bank statement this way. Se example from my statement
Quote:
08/04/2008 Other INTL SERVICE FEE 07/31 $2.10
08/04/2008 Other INTL SERVICE FEE 07/31 $3.16
These do add up...and when all clears your balance will be this much less...

The double billing usually is due to banks holding double, and is returned back after the charge is submitted by the vendor and is cleared. Like buying gas, you charge $40 and banks hold $80 (has happened more often than not lately to me by using my debit card).

Just thought I would put in my 2 cents and it has helped some

Hope that helps!

yes, but it's the gas station that authorizes more. It used to be $50 but I bet it's $80 or a $100 with rise in gas. I always pay cash for gas.

Visa now charge and ISA fee but its usually a few cents.
Quote:
Effective April 1, 2008, Visa is assessing a new fee for cardholders who use their cards in countries outside the United States where purchases can be made using the U.S. dollar.

The conditions under which Visa USA (Visa) charges financial institutions its International Service Assessment (ISA) fee are changing. Previously, Visa only charged the ISA fee on international transactions that involved currency conversion. With this change, however, Visa will now charge financial institutions an ISA fee on all international transactions regardless of whether there is a currency conversion.

If there is no currency conversion (a “single-currency transaction”) the ISA fee is 0.8% of the transaction amount; if there is a currency conversion (a “multi-currency transaction”) the ISA fee will continue to be 1% of the transaction amount. Visa defines an international transaction as a transaction where the card-issuing financial institution’s country is different from the merchant’s country. Thus, a transaction over the Internet could qualify as an international transaction.
In any event casinos may be actually doubling up on the authorizations to limit the number of transactions their processor has to make.

I to could have sworn there were deposits I never made as well. So now I always write my bank balance, both actual and available before playing. I also write all deposits down to keep track and make the last deposit a different amount than the rest.

It seems most players end up making a bunch of small deposits when they should just make 1 or 2 larger deposits and limit the number of transactions so the processor doesn't go bye bye.

Better yet, use an ewallet.

hi thanks for all your replies i think thats what must have happened. I had written down what i had available in my bank and did not go over that. all of this left my account too. It was the additional £455 that i had not budgeted for, the casinos have said that they think it was a processing error with the card merchant and that i should get the money back within seven working days, we shall see. Watch this space!!!

You are from the UK, and so am I.

I have used debit cards to deposit at Reputable casinos, and this has NEVER HAPPENED. It should not, it is a breach of the banking code, and is different to where a "hold" is placed on a sum that is authorised, but not debited, on the day in question. This might happen at a petrol station where you use an automatic pump. A "hold" is placed on an amount, usually the max on the pump, to ensure payment can be taken. You fill up, and then the actual amount is debited. The "hold" simply ensures the payment will go through BEFORE the petrol ends up in the tank. What is being described here is "double dipping", and is a breach of the banking code, as the extra transaction has not been authorised. This can do a great deal of damage to someone's finances, as an account can be pushed far into the red, and the customer faced with further bounced payments and huge bank charges. This would be a matter to take up with the bank, who will first ask the merchant to PROVE that these extra charges were notified and authorised. If they were not, they are FRAUDULENT, and as a customer you have the right to a refund from the bank (under the banking code), including any charges made as a result of the duplicated charges. The bank will then pursue the offending merchant to recover the unauthorised charges, plus their own costs in taking this action.
If the bank does not follow the banking code, a formal complaint can be made, and if the bank still fail to address the issue, this can be escalated to the banking ombudsman or the Financial ombudsman.

In the future, please be advised that the above mentioned casinos are NOT reputable by any means, even though they target the UK market.

32Vegas are indeed listed here at Casinomeister,

I have worked for a bank and a credit card company.

It was pretty much pre internet so I dont really have an answer.

I have also card my switch card dipped. 6 months after I canceled it so I had no problems claiming back.

First thing I would do is contact the site. Tag it as (URGENT)

If you can afford to wait a couple of days, give them that.

If not, go straight to your local police station and fill out a crime report.

Give the crime report receipt to your bank and let them deal with it.

Any incoming money, move it, switch banks for the meantime.

It should take a month to sort out.

All charges, plus interest will be removed.

32 Vegas are notorious spammers (Not to be confused with 32 Red).

I think it will be an error or a dodgy employee. Either way you should get your money back + any expense incurred.

I'm not exactly sure how you would deal with this online but I would take that road. Worst comes to the worst, you challenge your bank and get your money that way. I will write a legal letter to your bank if you need to go down that road.
