Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum. I only became acquainted with the online gambling about a couple of months ago. I am not really a big gambler but I have a question about an incident that happened to me this January 2007. I had played at MummysGold Casino in December. I won a little something. There was a little confusion with my withdrawal but eventually I received my money by check. In January they said that I should play at their sister casino RubyFortune Casino. They had a special bonus play $750.00 for 1hr. You know the ones where you have to make so many bets within an hour etc...Well I tried 3times on the same day to play this casino but their software did not work properly on my computer. I have a pretty good computer too. During these problems I did register with the casino. During registration I gave my credit card information but didn't make a deposit. I just gave it to register as a real player. I have the 3 e-mails also to prove that I tried exactly 3 times to play with this casino. Well I just so happened to check my credit card status and come to find out on this exact same date 3 times 19.99euro was charged to my credit card for World of War Craft Vell2Y NLD. I have no idea what this is! I contacted my credit card company and they reimbursed the money to me while they investigate. I am suspicious of the RubyFortuneCasino. What do you guys think about this? Thanks

very intersting story.
I cant belive that Ruby fortune has to do anything with this. Your data should be safe there.
I have been playing online for 7 years now and use a credit card quite often. Never anything wrong!
btw: Ruby fortune is solid and trustworthy.

I have been using my creditcard on line for quite sometime now too, but not for casinos. This is the first time this has happened to me and it happened while trying to play one of these casinos. If I play in the future I will just use MoneyBookers. I think these on line casinos are bitter-sweet. They seem to be a lot of hassle on the other hand you can play from the comfort of your home. Maybe play less too than if you were in a brick n' mortar casino. At least in the brick n' mortar casino you get your withdrawal instantly and any problems can mostly be solved right there. But anyways I am sure my bank will straighten this all out. I am interested to know who the culprit is!

Did you check the list of accredited casinos in this forum?
You can feel safe (nearly...) at those places and there are some with instant withdrawals. Go to Simmo!´s site (he is a member here), there you will find them.

Key logger maybe? Someone broke thru ur system and was watching you type stroke for stroke.Maybe that was why you were unsuccessful in playing the game..someone was logging on with you and checking your personal information while you tried to play....sounds like you have a security issue with your computer...there are some pros on this forum that could tell you how to clean it up...i would have to get a pro to do it cause it's duhhhh when it comes to actually fixing my computer myself. I think World of Warcraft is one of those multi-player internet role playing games. There are charges to take part, and the three charges would probably relate to your card being used for this.
It is a terrible coincidence that you tried to play three times, and had problems, and found three matching transactions on the credit card.

It is well worth checking your PC for malware. "AdAware" and "Spybot Search & Destroy" are a good start, and should find most keyloggers and tracking programmes (both are free). A free virus scan can be performed at the "Panda" website.

I have found from bitter experience that the main source of these problems are the niche sites, such as those that deal with anime, and, you guessed it, role play gaming! (I have a nephew into both of these, who after a three day visit managed to load my PC with 300+ assorted malware files & cookies )

The ultimate solution is to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the OS, and be careful of the backed up data in case the malware sneaks back in again.

Thanks so much vinylweatherman! You gave me some noteworthy advice. I installed "counterspy" and now I do a spyscan every other day. (Maybe too much) It gets rid of any spyware or any harmful files on your computer.I will also do the virus scan at the Panda website. It has made me a bit nervous about using my creditcard on the internet for anything now. Thankfully the amount wasn't too much and my bank immediately credited back to me. They said they should know something within 50 days. I never had any problems before until I started playing the online casinos. Makes me pause a bit. Thanks again. You guys are great on this forum!

If you are running without a firewall, you should increase the browser security levels for the internet zone, and place all the sites that you want to "work properly" into the "trusted zone". The default security level in Internet Explorer allows some applets and scripts to execute as soon as you access a web page. This includes the addition of cookies and small pieces of malware (such as keyloggers). The internet zone can be customised to ask first before executing anything like this. It will show up what the sites are trying to do, and ask you if you want it done. All sites that accept credit card data should be secure (padlock logo, and an "https://" URL)

While I've never played any of these games, I have read several articles about some players who aquire "virtual assets" via successful play and then sell them on ebay. as you can see from this example, this stuff can fetch a tidy sum. I think some of this stuff has sold for thousands.

There is a massive hype around second life.
I am wondering why its not prohhibited in the US?
There are even exchange rates from gambling bucks (Linden $) to real money (ok: real??? - but dont get philosophical now!) , which are published every day.

Isnt that much more dangerous than gambling?
Or - maybe to start with the beginning:
where is the essential difference between escaping from life by role play, which takes you for 12-14.. hours a day and lets you lose all social relationships and gambling?

the role player can even answer: I dont socail relations, i get new ones in game, and they are as real as the f+B ones (fnB is my saracastic analogy for B+M... = flesh and blood).
Could be an interesting discussion.
