Town sues sheriff over bingo

HUNTSVILLE -- A financially strapped north Alabama town has sued the Madison County sheriff saying that raids of two bingo halls in Triana eliminated a major source of tax income

The seizure of machines in a March raid took away the town's right to collect taxes from charitable bingo organizations, including taxes on facilities and machines, according to the suit filed Friday in Huntsville's federal court.
