When you do a whois on two different sites (xxxx@xxx.xxx) and (xxx@xx.xxx), the information comes up. Then you take the domain server name and using the IP that shows for it you do a tracert, both being different, but the 'exact' information comes up on both.

Does that mean they only share same server? They are connected as being in same category as each other?

Example: lets say these businesses are online casino's (grin), and this info comes up on both, does that mean they are in same group, lets say, Virtual, or not?

Not sure I made myself clear.. sorry. Just don't understand Domain, IP location..etc.. what each means.

I'm not 100% certain what your saying, but I'll try to decypher it

Are you saying that siteA and siteB both have different IPs but trace back to the same server?

If so, then it's good evidence that they're conected in someway but not 100% certain.

    Hi Jinnia,

As far as I know, you can have several IP's pointing to a single location if you want to.

In your case, I'm guessing that you used the domain name or the email adress to look up the IP, and then traced the IP to the same host, correct?

In some cases, if you want to (as an example) register jinnia.com and host it here with casinomeister's excellent hosting company (just making up an example here.. *L*), you usually get an IP assigned to your domain name. If you later on decide you want to get another domain name, say jinniathegoddess.com, and you host it at the same place, you could end up with 2 IP's, leading to the same area of the same server..

    Did I make any sense?

Oh, and for sniffing out things, http://www.dnsstuff.com is always a good place to play around with.
