    Hello Bryan;

    Is there anything that can be done about pop-ads?

    I can hardly view a site that I access without all these ads poping up. I guess this is what you call "SPAMMING".. really is bad and so is Casino O Net. If I close out a site or attempt to log out to shut down the computer,about six adds will pop-up on the screen. On Luck casino is really bad about this. Then there is all the Gator pop-up ads. These pop-ups are nothing but commercials. If I wanted commercials, I can just watch TV. This is a nusance and if the casinos think that barging in on the screen will direct traffic their way are wrong. As soon as I see the pop-up ads, I immediately delete them without a thought of what they are offering. I think this is an intrution of my privicy, I did not give permission to interrupt and break-in on my on-line sessions. The majority of the spamming is from casinos pushing a big bonus to join and some of them are on your rogue list. I am going to make a list of all the pop-up ads and then contact the casinos to voice my opinion about what they can do with their pop-ups. And let them know their pop-up adds is a waste of time and that I will never patronize the casinos that are infringing on my privacy, interrupting my on-line time and just down right annoying.

    First thing you gotta stop is Gator. That is responsible for most of the pop-ups you are seeing.

    Once you have done that, start noting down the sites which are using pop-ups that you object to - and don't go there again, but of course let us know which sites they are

    Try this:
    http://www.scumware.com and read up on why scumware is so dangerous. They offer free tools to rid your machine of scumware, etc.

    There are a number of programs that you can download from cnet.com that kill pop ups as well. Most reponsible webmasters understand that too many pop-ups are just plain irritating. I employ only one here (for my newsletter). And that's it.

    Bryan and Spearmaster:

    I checked out the site and ran a complete scan. It came back did I had 54 files infected. But it didn't tell me how to get rid of the infective files.
    I downloaded all the information that I thought I would need. And I downloaded everything that I thought pertaining to my situation. But I am still getting pop-ups with the "$you save" And I can't get rid of it. I think this is Gator, but wouldn't all the downloads installed, should this advertizement be stopped?

    You should be able to go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add Remove Programs - and there you should see the Gator application, and/or something called GAIN.

    You can uninstall these and then run something like AdAware again.

    Other things can also cause popups as well. I'd need to see the $you save popup in order to know where it came from, but if it doesn't say GAIN or Gator on it, it's not Gator.

    Go to http://doxdesk.com/parasite/ and it will also tell you what you have, and gives detailed instructions on how to remove scumware.

    See if that helps any...
