Do you know if there are any online casinos that work with Macintosh? There used to be a few that worked using Flash, but some of those no longer do. Any suggestions?
Yep, this is my absolute quest to find a decent mac casino. It seems Peak Ent. casinos using cryptologic are the only ones I can play at with the exception of Netgaming and MadBonus both owned by the same company registered in Balize and they are the only ones that the flash works at (for me). This is really a crummy deal and now, Mary says the java games aren't secure? Wow it just gets worse. The flash on microgamming sites just bounces a thing saying I dont have the correct version of flash 5 so I went to MicroMedias site* and tested my version 7 (the most current) and, of course, works fine, so I doug deep into their site and found this:
"Trouble with a particular Web site
Always verify if problems are not actually due to problems with your Flash Player, but possibly only occurring with one particular web site. Try viewing other Macromedia Flash content (for example, Macromedia. )
Many developers create detection schemes to determine if viewers have Macromedia Flash Player installed. If there is an error in the detection scheme, you may be advised that you need to update or install Macromedia Flash Player even if you already have the latest version installed and working properly. This problem with detection is beyond your control, and can only be addressed by the creator of the web site. Contact their web master for assistance."
My guess is microgamming is just doing flash for windows. So then I thought an emulation program would solve the problem until I started looking at the ram requirement and the cost of the emulation program. (Emulator runs windows on a Mac) This may be the only answer in the end game with this mac ordeal.
Sounds like Microgaming can't handle Flash 7. Hm. Have you emailed a Microgaming casinos to see if they they have a patch? Or a copy of Micromedia 5 to use? Or gone to
I did send numerous casinos using Microgaming and Microgaming themselves a detailed letter with much the same info in my earlier post but with a lot more info on my macs, my browser, my flash version, etc. NO REPLY FROM ANY (boy us mac folk are just trash to some people).
Just think what casinos will be like when Microgamming is the only gaming software out there. It will kinda be like, well, Microsoft. I believe in free enterprise and when one entity holds all the cards, better watch out, the flood (bill) gates will open.
I eventually found a couple of sites using Cryptologic software that would work with Mac using Flash. However, the software was not what I would call player friendly, and I would have been better off if I hadn't played. I will not name them because I would not recommend that you play there even though they are on this site's approved list.
I have always been a little suspicious of software based casino games (including land-based video poker) because if the software is rigged, there is no way to tell. I also found that the practice games seemed to produce a much higher win rate than the real money games, which is in itself somewhat disturbing. Let the buyer beware!
) is FOR mac users, which is why I don't list any of those microgaming sites.
I even have a separate page for casinos that work best with Safari (the new Mac browser).
I love online gambling myself, I'm not a shill, and I own a Mac! So check out my site, and if you've had bad or good experiences with a Mac usable casino, let me know! I have never had a problem with Mad Bonus, which is why I have it in my top ten list for Mac users, Mary: why are they crap? If there's a problem, I definitely want to stop promoting them. Thanks you guys!
Madbonus and Netgaming use the ElkaSystems software which is proven rigged. They even admit it. Jacks or Better game dealt 50 hands in a row, all losers. The odds against this are astronomical.
hadnt heard of Safari. OmniWeb allows the user to false the identity to HTTP servers and Javascripts as anything from Netscape to IE in any version or any OS. Thats how I discovered Microgaming's flash doesnt fail recognition based on browser or Javascript. I attempted to load Flash 5 but the problem is Mac OS X is a radical (unix based) departure form the old Mac OS 9 so the old flash version had to be run under OS 9 and...still didnt load. Flash 5 is very hard to get from MicroMedia. Headsup all you windows users, since the switch to Mac OS X in february and running 3-5 Macs all day -<, ONLY ONE SYSTEM CRASH TOTAL.
Yep those Balize ElkaSystems sites are absolutely rigged, EVEN the PLAY FOR FUN lol Wow not a lot of brain work in that. Also include in that list LazyJoker, same owners, same software. Dont ya' just know, they work great with the mac and ...ugh, one problem, after playing there youll have to buy a cheeper computer cuz youll be broke but then lol youll be on windows.
Sulkygirl..I joined your site last week and I am certainly happy to see someone doing something. Try the OmniWeb, very stable for OS X. OmniWeb crashes its self more than IE but then who wants windows and gates anyway?
So here is my dream land fantasy, I find a brilliant mac geek and work with him to develop C++ Mac OS Casino software, Me the graphics artist (30 years in the biz) and he the code buster. Once all the bugs are run out of the betas and I know its a perfect set of casino games, I register the site in Antigua or whatever it takes, fire it up on very stable mac servers and run a MAC ONLY casino. And like the mac, the site would be 100% honest using the RNG as the Thing with no tweaking, and with that wonderful Unix based OS X runnin those servers, well...stable for sure. OK so it would only pull 5% of the potential market but then think of that. Online gaming is enormous. My luck, I would get it all set up and congress would make the big move and eeek!
