Don't get pissy with me about it . It IS his forum and he can do what he wants .

You could be right and this forum might stand to lose some members because of Bryan's action. However, the situation was getting a bit out of hand and something had to be done before this forum spiralled downwards. Most members joined here because of a common interest: gambling and it is here that they get recognised whereas elsewhere you are slated as pathological gamblers no matter how well-controlled you are.
The Wild Cards Section grew quite a bit in the past year and members shared a lot of things and different opinions on everything were given. Recently, tempers were flared over relatively trivial issues and I fail to understand why such strong and abusive language were used by many parties. This forum is still well-respected in the industry and we are all in the position of keeping it this way. Maybe if we all learn to be more accomodating towards others' views Bryan will give us a X'mas gift(bonus in casino terms) and reopen the Section on Boxing Day.

Yes, and in the meantime, lose 1/3 of his forum members who posted in the wild card section or more.
I made some last second edits; I misread this opening statement.
There are a group of regulars - that is true - who post more often in that section than any other (although I would argue it's generally the same 50 or so people who post there on a day-to-day/week-to-week basis... and I doubt that there are that many within the Casinomeisterland population live and die with that section). It's not - and let's hope it never will be - the meat of the forum.
I suppose that one could think that the "WildCard" section gives the site more of a community feel. And I guess it's a way that members can find common ground on things; hobbies/family/traveling/porn/ect. It has it's pluses, and it's minuses.
I don't mind if that section is there or not. But at the end of the day, doesn't it dilute the overall product, considering that it is essentially a casino-related website?
The flip-side to all of this, is that some (I doubt many) of the other members (there are currently 1,496 active out of a total of 8,244 members), might have been put off by some of the threads within the "WildCard" section. I can only speak for myself, but on a number of occasions, I think "classless" and "slightly derogatory" spring to mind. Is it about porn and fetishes, or about getting information about casino related topics? I was beginning to wonder if I was reading "National Enquirer" or "Star", propelling some of the regular members into today's tabloid nonsense. There are others, who might have felt alienated by some of what was being said (forms of bullying with the use of high school level antics, gossiping and "group hugging"). Of course, it wasn't always like that... but at times...
As it was stated earlier (perhaps not in this particular thread), that a part of the site was getting too off-center. There are a great number of members who never have and likely never will make even a single post (or more than 10), who come here specifically for casino and casino game information... not for "WildCard" information.

The posting traffic is definitely down, but usually is over weekends anyway.
I'm not comparing quantity to quality nor making any judgements as to which is which; US players complaining about things that can't be helped, fraudsters and fools wasting forum space and the Advocates time, spammers trying to slip one in and the Wildcards being a bulk of posts because denizens weren't taking their responsibilities to contribute constructively seriously...
I'm sure it was a risk versus reward decision and nothing is written in stone until he writes it or rewrites it. I'm not worried.
I remember a newsletter where Bryan said he wanted this to be the end all and get all forum for every subject under the sun. He may have had a direction in mind and changed it (it is his forum and prerogative) he may have been giving us a sarcastic(?) hint to get our sh*t together, or something else, i don't know.
But I take a section closure very seriously. If the Meister has decided that it isn't in the best interest of the forum to have wildcards, then so be it. This is not a democracy, it is CasinoMeister.com and it has a Purpose as defined by the owner.
Support your Host's decision, create a semi-integrated alternative, or exercise your options. I don't think it's up for constructive debate amongst us.
But we can grieve the loss.

Great to see chu chu and especially the avenger weighing in
There are more than prurient issues involved though, the impetus seemed to be the sux conflict, not porn and enquirer stuff, though it must have all been leading up to it.
I've been here less than a year; and female generated gender bigotry was tolerated in wildcards, encouraged by long time posters as a way of fun ~ Female objectification is just as crass, and I'm guilty of it too. It can't be moderated properly unless we police ourselves, as it is NOT the reason for this forum.
Forum suggestion: How about turning off the bold and color options for some people? Turning off any but casino screen shots for others. And how about we denizens report offensive posts and use the neg rep button in the future?
Are you serious? Why in the world would Bryan and Simmo want to have to go through and deal with all of that ? They shouldn't have to .Forum suggestion: How about turning off the bold and color options for some people? Turning off any but casino screen shots for others. And how about we denizens report offensive posts and use the neg rep button in the future?

It would be better than banning the sux crew or killing 'offensive' pics in wildcards? Thats why, but you're right, they could turn off the options for everyone except by permission.
And how about we denizens report offensive posts and use the neg rep button in the future?
