You're correct. (Taken from http://banking.senate.gov/index.cfm?...th=8&Year=2003 )

American Express has a long-standing policy against allowing gambling charges, and Visa has begun regular audits to guard against "7995" purchases, the credit card code for gambling transactions.

Is there not some kind of online wallet....Paypal type thingy that you could fund with your card....American Express would have no way of knowing it was to be used for gambling purposes surely?

Good luck

Alas, but not to my experience. When you try to fund your ewallet with Visa/MC/Amex etc., it is also coded as "7995" and declined. I used to be able to use my Visa issued by a Las Vegas bank but even that declines now.
