Yeah, but how easy will it be to rig a game like that? It tells you what the best hand is, or autoplays for you! Do you really trust it to make those decisions for you? I can see novice players liking it, but I don't think I'd trust it from MG.
Also, there's the hunch factor that even some of us good players still use. Ever hold 2 cards to a royal even though one of them wouldn't give you a winning hand if it were paired up with something else (like a 10 in JoB) and end up getting a royal? Or worse, making the "correct" play and losing a royal?? Both have happened to me! In kings or better Joker's Wild, I held a K 10 suited and tossed the unsuited Ace and drew the rest of the natural royal for $1250. In jacks or better, I held the unsuited face cards and tossed the suited 10, and drew the rest of what would have been a natural royal :-( At least that one was only a $200 loss. I'm going to try it for the novelty at least, but I don't know how much autoplay I'll let it do. Sounds cool though. |

jpm,
Gut feelings will lose to statistics in the long run, and lose big. I do not intend to demean you, so I hope you will accept this in good humor... Do you know what the last four words a redneck says before he dies? "Hey, watch this sh!t!" So far, the suggested play is right on with the Winpoker program for Jacks or Better and Aces and Faces. I take pride in my video poker playing ability. I cannot tell you how many hours I have spent working on my strategies and refining them. I can't say I am too unhappy to watch my games of skill and good fortune turn into a game of luck. It gives the players a little more of an edge. It will be interesting to see if the other casinos will catch on or if this the the "Casino to end all Casinos" |

No offense taken hawk! I kinda chuckled at that one.
Don't misunderstand, I rarely play a hunch. However, on that rare occasion where I do get that feeling, I've learned to take the chance on it. That's what gambling is about anyway, taking a chance and hoping for the best. I own Bob Dancer's Winpoker and do refer to it on when I get one of those hands that you're just not quite sure how to play. Like playing deuces wild and getting dealt a king high str8 flush with 2 or 3 deuces. Do I go for the wild royal, 4 deuces, hold it? Let's see what Bob says. Usually he's right, every once in a while it doesn't work out. I too take pride in my skills & ability, and have spent probably way too many hours refining them too ;-) But it is lots of fun. Here's a question for you though, do you play vp at land based casinos or just online? I find that when I go to a land based casino, I can't be bothered with vp, since I can play it online anytime. I opt for the table games and sometimes a slot for some mindless fun. Now, how the heck can I try this viper program?? I just logged in to Lucky Nugget and it isn't there! Help!! |

Have always wondered why robots were banned as all i can see is increased turnover - therefore increased profit to the house unless it's a 100% + payout of course.
Now i have my answer. (Message edited by amandajm on January 15, 2003) |

jpm,
If you already have the old Lucky Nugget software you have to uninstall it first and then reinstall the new. I wrote down my account number, though when the new software popped up it knew who I was already. I own an actual casino video poker machine with Dueces Wild and Jacks or Better on it. They are rather cheap on the internet. I have had mine for three years now and play it a great deal. It has been very low maintenance. The most difficult thing is lugging that thing from place to place when we move. I have been playing online since September. I have always gotten paid, with varying degrees of difficulty. I don't consider myself a bonus hunter, but I try and patronize The Casinomeister and Gone Gambling, or a couple of other portals. I don't know if they get residuals after the initial deposits or not so I will add one to my list from time-to-time. We go to Biloxi two-three times a year, that hasn't changed. I like the atmosphere of going and taking in the shows and just getting away. I only play video poker, my wife likes the slots. "God made slot machines so women will leave men the hell alone." I like playing the games online because they are new and fun right now. Your question really made me sit and think. The truth of the matter is, I will get bored and tired of online gaming far sooner than I will get tired of going to Biloxi or Las Vegas. Maybe because it is too convenient. I have alsways said if they made gambling legal in Georgia I would never bet here. They had video poker and such here, but you had to turn it in for "prizes." I never sank a dime in one here. |

LMAO, I like that saying about slot machines! Gotta remember that one.
I agree, I definately think there's something to be said for the ambiance of the land casino. Seeing other 'real' people actually winning big and beating the house makes you feel good too. If you're not doing well, walk around and watch some other games or see a show or get something to eat. I just found it funny that I'll play vp for hours online, but won't even go near it at Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun when I visit. I stick to 7card stud, let it ride, bj, and the occassional caribbean draw (not stud) and maybe a slot if it looks like fun and isn't more that a quarter. I almost forgot, I had called Lucky Nugget in the meantime and found out I had to download a whole new 7meg version of the s/w. Got it and found that only a few of the games were working :-( Couldn't play jokers wild or aces & faces, or poker pursuit. Anyone else having these problems? The JoB on autoplay was pretty cool though, kinda fun to just play 10 hands at a time while watching tv or something, only 1/2 paying attention. (Message edited by jpm on January 15, 2003) |

The ones you can't play you just click on and they'll download and install.
That's to keep you from loading up with games you don't play. |

No, they are all downloaded, they just error out whenever I try to play them. It goes to that intermediate screen with the 3 green checkmarks and then goes back to the main "lobby" screen and pops up an error box saying there was an error and to call tech support.
I'm just going to blow it all away and re-download it again. |
