BJ 'portal'

Hi meister, and anyone else for that matter.

Does a blackjack 'portal' already exist on the web? (I am thinking rules, strategy, reviews of BJ sections at online casinos, history, fun stuff, messageboard, etc..... )?

If not, that might be a project I would be interested in creating/helping out with.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Well... it sound like your idea is actually a kind of pick-and-mix from what is out there...

In terms of odds and strategy, there is probably no better than Michael Shackleford's site - http://www.wizardofodds.com In it he talks about pretty much every online BJ type of game available with specific strategy and odds for every variation of the game you can think of.

Messageboards are more and more popular nowadays, but I don't think I've found one with specific talk around BJ. Having said that - is there enough to say about BJ for a whole chat board devoted to it?

Again, with reviews, there are a number of sites with these. My old site had very in-depth reviews of 1500+ words per review (see http://www.gamblingfamily.com/reviews.php). However, they were not just BJ orientated, but again I question whether there is enough to write.

Many successful sites look at more than just a specific topic (i.e. BJ). However, it may be there is a niche market for your idea... and one thing I would say is that 'content is king' - i.e. if you come up with something original that people like, they will visit and return and your site will be a success!

Good luck if you decide to follow through, and if you want to question me further about anything, just let me know (post a reply or something!).

Cheers,
Ben.

Thanks for your words. Yes, I know that there are several sites out there that have very good content. I will probably start small and create a few pages with links to the pages I have found most rewarding to read and some general information and some articles about how I came to love the game (as a novice BJ player) and some thoughts about what I think about some of the various online casinos I play at from time to time. Nothing fancy but it should be expandable at least.

What type of CMS system will you be using? I'm going to use DotNetNuke but that's because I program asp.net/vb.net for my real job.

PHPNuke is probably a pretty good choice as well since it's been around forever and has tons of hacks (mods).
