Star City New Zealand (Yes, I know its not Asia!)

But I couldn't find anywhere else to put this thread!

Anyone been? I am going for a couple of weeks soon and am staying in this casino. Is it any good? I will want to play poker/slots/blackjack in that order of preferance (when I say poker, I mean proper face to face poker not casino variants). do they have a good selection of slots etc? Are the restaurants any good? any tips?

I've never heard of it and I live in New Zealand.. .hahaha. Are you sure you dont mean 'Sky City Casino'?

If you do.... are you going to stay there? Its expensive. My cousin is letting me have her room (She is Platinum) for the night for my birthday

I've never seen live games of poker there but then again, Im a low roller so stay on the low rollers floor have never made it to the Diamond or Platinum floors. Who knows, could be totally different scene up those ways

But some members of my family who are total high rollers, they live up there. Free food, free booze, free everything apparently and oh and of course the complementary rooms.. hehe

I totally love the slot machines there but then Im used to them. The majority are the same machines that we have in our pubs and a few more besides. Lots of jackpots going off all the time. Usually the winner is the person on the machine right next to me. Figures

Love the casino. Cant wait till my birthday and I get the chance to play on some real live machines...

    Hey,

Many thanks for replying to this thread Realitybitez! Yes I mean Sky City my apologies. My brain is not always in the right place.

Yeah I am staying there for a couple of weeks. You are right it wasn't cheap but sod it we only live once etc.

Seems strange they have different floors for different betting levels. Is it really strictly enforced? How much will I have to be betting to get off the low rollers floor?

Think they definately have poker, but only at set times im told

Thanks for the input reality, very much appreciated

I have 'no' idea. Im strictly a low roller I've only heard of the high roller rooms/floors? Not sure, have never ever seen them or been close to it But considering UK currency is worth 3 x our currency, you should get abit for your dollar

You can but ask, just tell them you'll wanting to play so much, maybe in the high stakes rooms and they will probably bounce you up there

They have cheap meals at their casino lunch/dinner bar ranging from $10 -$15. Fortuna Restuarant which is above the casino is a sporgasboard type of resturant, I've only ever done the chinese sporgaboard and it was $25 at that time. And the Revolving Resaurant right at the top (it spins around, so you get a view of the whole city) is expensive as! Had an ex take me and my 2 kids there once (both under 7) at that time for breakfast. And it cost $160...

The first and last time I ever used the revolving restaurant

I am here now! The casino looks great, very professional.

I've not had a chance to play much. It is closed today for good friday sadly or I would be on the "pokies" now lol. I did play some poker last night. They rake pots that do not even go to a flop, and split pots. I feel molested already!!
