Major bummer but true. So to remove a casino link, means manually editing all the pages they appear on.

Put it this way, I am never building a site this way ever again
I have html pages with few thousand pages ,I use the find replace tool(do find all option then type in what you want to find) and can remove thousand of links at once in a few seconds. There are other nifty tools to do this ,some for free

On the topic of not being able to kill aff links because one's site is too big, I don't buy this - it'd take only a few searches in Homesite and you'll find your links. The same goes for vBulletin. It shouldn't take one more than an hour. Don't be a sloppy webmaster
With thousands of pages and some older than the hills, this doesn't work.

We have been converting pages for over a year now, and managing the links on the converted pages in a central location which will solve the issue. But we still have a ways to go to capture the entire site.

That said, we have painstakingly done things manually when links are removed in the non-converted section and I haven't seen anything missed so far.

LOL - Been in IT for some 15+ years and a full time webmaster for 5, yet I learn something everyday - Or a case of being stoopid.

Been in cyber land since the late 70’s webmastering is a part time job. My full time work involves the internet and has for the last 25 years minus 5. The fact is removing links from site DOES NOT mean they no longer exist. The pages and referral links linger across the web, message boards, types of media, various search engines, cache versions, scrapped sites, Google adword buffs, porn sites etc… for months if not years.

And unfortunately this is a fact. Hence the unexplainable fact removing referral links from site does not equal no more hits from the rogue program, why some are reluctant to close their accounts down, and why quite frankly there is no easy kill switch.

Although I have closed several accounts down over the years I know for FACT these programs are generating income from my dead URL’s and account.

Now the intent of this thread created by daera subject: “Watch my stats drop - Gambling Wages”

    The link Dominique posted

For me, I don't watch my stats anymore because it's sickening. There was a thread running here but it must have been deleted; it said that only "legitimate" claims get responded to at Gambling Wages. Maybe someone here can legitimize how its possible that with deposits in the 10-30k range per month, I cant break the 1k threshold (like 1 month). In fact, my earnings are usually wiped out by months end.

Now it does appear this is not so isolated. Go spit venom on this member as well and the thousands of others who toy with Gambling Wages.

Another reason why using a redirect script is so much better. Any traces you leave will still go centrally so one simple change will cover everything ancient and new, wherever it can be found on the Interweb

It's not isolated at all and you will find plenty other threads with screenshots there, including the one the author couldn't find again, and still newbies fall into the trap.

Sometimes you can warn people all you want and it falls on deaf ears.

Like I always say, if they screw players they screw affiliates and vice versa.

LOL, and the best part of his/her last statement there is the fact that they were not concerned in the least with whether or not their players were getting paid or not but rather the almighty affiliate dollar...classic!!

"I should have done more research on who we promoted. To be fair though we really only started to promote them in March 2007 and stopped about a year later because of too many backpayments".

No wonder so many of you choose not to close your affiliate accounts there. If you did that then who would we have to make great posts like this one here and that one there...lol!
