I RECENTLY WAS THE VICTIM OF ONLINE GAMBLIING. MY 13 YEAR OLD NEPHEW USED MY & MY SISTERS CREDIT CARDS TO GAMBLE. THIS IS VERY DISTURBING TO ME. WHEN I CALLED THE CASINO TO DISCUSS THIS, THEY REALLY DID NOT CARE. FORTUNATELY MY BANKING INSTITUTION ASSISTED ME IN RECOVERING SOME OF THE MONEY. IF THIS OR ANYTHING SIMILAR HAS HAPPENED TO YOU, PLEASE EMAIL ME @ BIGC-@AOL.COM. WE WILL BE FIGHTING THIS AND TAKING THEM TO COURT. HELP US STOP FRAUD, THE MORE OF US THERE IS THE BETTER WE WILL BE

******
Hmmm, what do you think? I don’t think she has a case since the nephew could have been buying books at Amazon.com, so she is not really a victim of online gambling (she’s just the victim of a teenager from hell, and of an irritating habit of pressing the “caps lock”). But one point should be raised: how do online casinos protect themselves from player fraud? If someone were to play and lose big, what is to keep them from blaming their loss on the unauthorized use of their credit card? For those readers who are casino owners, I’d like to hear from you in our forum. Should be interesting.

Soon after this posting was made, mayhem broke out in the forum:

you wont believe this. my pet ferret who i taught how to type, signed on my account while i was out shopping and depleted my credit cards gambling. i smacked the sh.. out of him, as Steve sometimes suggest to do. only problem is i whacked him so hard he ended up in the middle of the road, well actually a little to the right side of the road. this is where normal people drive, so he got squashed dead. i am very disturbed that this could happen as he was a valuable tax deduction for me. i claimed him as my dependant. anyone who has had the same experience as me please contact me at my email address. i have hired an attorney as we must stop this casino fraud. email me at ferretsintheright or ferretsontheright as the case may be. we must stick together in this battle.

And now for the humor……

A guy sticks his head in the barber shop and asks, “How long before I can get a haircut?” The barber looks around the shop and says, “About two hours.” The guy leaves.

A few days later, the same guy sticks his head in the door and asks, “How long before I get a haircut?” The barber looks around the shop full of customers and says, “About two hours.”

The guy leaves.

A week later, the same guy sticks his head in the shop and asks, “How long before I can get a haircut?” The barber looks around the shop an says, “About an hour and half.” The guy leaves.

The barber looks over at a friend in the shop and says, “Hey Bill, follow that guy and see where he goes.” In a little while, Bill comes back into the shop laughing hysterically.

The barber asks, “Bill, where did he go when he left here?”

Bill looked up and said, “To your house.”

Casinomeister’s Forum: Gaming tips: HELP!

By Bob ( – 207.172.11.147) on Thursday, February 24, 2000 – 10:27 am:

Hi,

I started playing online (Intercasino) last August… I saw a banner ad and it led me to the site. Since, I’ve tried out a couple of other online casinos as well. I found this site tonight in my desperate quest to help me recoup my substantial losses since August. I mean, substantial! Does anyone have any suggestions for me (other than to quit)? I need to get my money back and the only way I know how is to try to win it back. The more I try the more I lose. I’m afraid I’ll lose my house next. Seriously.

Thanks!
Bob

Well for one, he could go to our tips page Gambline Tips to find this:

Tips for all games in general:

* Never play when tired.

* Never drink and play (unless you’re playing with someone else’s money)

* Leave any game after four consecutive losses.

* Don’t try to impress people by betting more than you can afford.

* Quit when you are ahead.

* Predetermine a goal for winnings, pocket a sizable fraction once achieved, then play with the remainder, more or less aggressively, depending on your nature and intuition.

I would say, quit Bob. This is one reason why we have links to Gamblers Anonymous and the IGC’s Helping Hand http://www.igcouncil.org/help/ on our site.

“Experience is the worst teacher, it gives the test before presenting the lesson.”
Vernon Law

Yet by others’ experiences we can learn. We can learn from each other instead of relying on experience; pitfalls of poorly made bets, dealing with a virtually unknown casino that seems to vanish into cyberspace. For those of you who haven’t posted in our forum yet, I invite you to share your experiences with the rest of us. We want to learn from you!

The chance of losing money online is a risk that most gamers accept. People who play online expect to lose every so often just like in any real casino, that’s why we stress, “do not bet more than you can afford to lose!” Once a player logs on to an online casino, she can start an account which normally includes submitting her credit card number. Some casinos prefer to use third party account holders like Cryptologic which maintain a specified balance in the holder’s account, or a bank where the player deposits an international money order. Nevertheless, the trepidation most gamers feel is not from the risk of drawing a bad hand, but from not knowing whether or not their winnings will be honored. This is where Casinomeister plays a significant role.

We believe that trust is a primary element of any gaming activity, whether it is in Cyberspace or in an establishment in Vegas. Trust is what it is all about. Our mission at Casinomeister is to promote cyber-gaming as a safe and enjoyable form of entertainment. Since trust is spawned by information, the more a gamer knows about an online casino, the more at ease he will feel.

Congratulations to Kevin Presley of USA ! He is our Scavenger Hunt winner for February 2000. March’s Scavenger Hunt is going strong. If you haven’t entered yet, now is the time to do so. The contest ends at midnight (Central European Time) on April 7th. Don’t delay. It’s an easy $200! I’m sure Kevin and all of our other winners would agree.

And now for the humor……

The new inmate at the mental hospital announced in a loud voice that he was the famous British naval hero, Lord Nelson. This was particularly interesting, because the institution already had a “Lord Nelson.” The head psychiatrist, after due consideration, decided to put the two men in the same room, feeling that the similarity of their delusions might prompt an adjustment in each that would help in curing them. It was a calculated risk, of course, for the two men might react violently to one another, but they were introduced and then left alone and no disturbance was heard from the room that night.

The next morning, the doctor had a talk with his new patient and was more than pleasantly surprised when he was told:

“Doctor, I’ve been suffering from a delusion. I know now that I am not Lord Nelson.”

“That’s wonderful,” said the doctor.

“Yes,” said the patient, smiling demurely, “I’m Lady Nelson.”

Online casino WINNERS AND LOSERS of the millennium-

My personal experiences:

**Longest consecutive winning streak at BJ in 3 years of playing online:
14 in a row – Starnet (High Roller Casino)

Occasionally, a casino will get slammed by a disgruntled player, and as webmaster and forum moderator, I feel I have an obligation to notify those casinos when these moments do occur. I usually suggest that they should respond in some way to the complaint. Most casinos react immediately and rectify the situation. Only when a casino remains silent do we question their obligation to make cyber-gambling a safe and enjoyable form of entertainment.

Several casinos have chosen to remain silent concerning emails that I have personally sent, and those sent from persons who have posted. This bothers me. In the near future, the will be a special section on Casinomeister that lists those casinos that are unresponsive to customer complaints.

What would you do with an extra $200? Take your significant other out on the town? By some CDs? Join a health club? Wager it at your favorite online casino? Well $200 might be yours! And now for the humor……

Everybody on Earth dies and goes to heaven. God comes and says, “I want the men to make two lines. One line for the men that dominated their women on earth and the other line for the men that were dominated by their women. Also, I want all the women to go with St. Peter.” Said and done. The next time God looked, the women were gone and there were two lines. The line of the men that were dominated by their women was 100 miles long, and in the line of men that dominated their women, there was only one man. God got mad and said, “You men should be ashamed of yourselves. I created you in my image and you were all whipped by your spouses. Look at the only one of my sons that stood up and made me proud. Learn from him! Tell them my son, how did you manage to be the only one in this line?”

The man replied, “I don’t know, my wife told me to stand here”

And now for the humor……

Adjusting to marriage sometimes poses problems. We met a good friend of ours recently, the morning after his wedding, brooding over a drink in a local bar.

“What’s the trouble?” we asked. “I should think you’d be the happiest man in the world today.”

He shook his head sadly. “What creatures of habit we are,” he said. “This morning when I rose, half asleep, without thinking, I pulled a $50 bill from my wallet and left it on the pillow.”

We tried to console him—told him his wife wouldn’t think anything of it.

“You don’t understand,” he said. “Half asleep, without thinking, she gave me twenty dollars change.”

FIVE-TIMES PAY SLOTS

Thanks to Tony R Frank for the following article. If you have an article you’d like to see published in Casinomeister’s newsletter, please follow our guidelines listed below:

These days all the attention seems to go to new types of slots, known as “multi-event/game-within-a-game” machines. Because of this, you might be neglecting old favorites such as Double Diamond and Red, White & Blue, particularly those models that have the “ Five-Times Pay” feature. “5X” machines may offer you the best chance of walking away a winner. Here’s why:

On “times” machines the best possible payouts are not even shown on the display panel. Consider that if it says “One jackpot symbol pays 5x the amount shown, two jackpot symbols pay 25 times the amount shown”, then you have the potential of winning up to 25 times the normal payout. This means that even if you get a lowly Single Bar, with two 5x symbols you collect 500 coins!

This does not change the overall payback percentage of the machine. It only means the low-to mid-range payout possibilities are increased at the expense of payout frequency. There will be longer dry spells. Wins will come less often, but when they do come they will be bigger. So how can one get ahead on such a machine?

Look at some payback figures from a typical 5-times pay table. This is what might be shown on the screen, (two-coin play):

3 5X Symbols 10,000 (Jackpot)
3 Sevens 120
3 Triple Bars 60
3 Double Bars 40
3 Single Bars 20
3 Any Bar 10

Outside of the Jackpot, nothing to get excited about, but add in the 5-times pay feature, and suddenly the possible payouts jump to:

3 “Times” Symbols 10,000 (Jackpot)
1 Seven, two 5X 3,000
1 Triple Bar, two 5X 1,500
1 Double Bar, two 5X 1,000
1 Single Bar, two 5X 500
2 Sevens, one 5X 600
2 Triple Bars, one 5X 300
2 Double Bars, one 5X 200
2 Single Bars, one 5X 100

Now, this expanded pay table has some meat in it! It gives you a realistic chance of hitting a payback of 300 or more coins. The approach to winning on such a machine is to concentrate on the mid-range paybacks. Look for a paytable that offers a number of win possibilities in the 300 to 1,000-coin range. Simply multiply the numbers displayed by 5 and by 25.

You will not always come out ahead on a “Times Pay” slot, but your odds are better than on those newfangled slots that slowly but surely eat up your bankroll, while you’re being “entertained”. The strategy for winning on a 5X pay machine goes like this:

1) From the machine’s expanded pay table select a win target that is roughly 25% greater than the number of coins you’re willing to risk. If you start with 200 coins, your win target should be 250; if you start with 300 coins, make your target 400 coins.
2) Play until you either win your target amount, or until all of your starting bankroll is gone. On this type of machine a “play coins through only once” strategy is not a good idea. Because of the lower hit frequency, you have to replay small wins, enabling you to stay in the game longer. Give yourself a chance to hit your target payout, or more.
3) The moment you hit your win target, quit the machine at once. You will have recovered your entire starting bankroll and show a significant profit. Not to mention all the slot club points you accumulated in the process. Pat yourself on the back for being a smart player and cash in your coins.

Two little brothers, aged six and eight, decide it’s time to learn how to swear. So, the eight-year-old says to the six-year-old, “Okay, you say ‘ass’ and I’ll say ‘hell’.”

All excited about their plan, they trooped downstairs, where their mother asks them what they’d like for breakfast. “Aw, hell,” says the eight-year-old, “gimme some Cheerios.”

His mother backhands him off the stool, sending him bawling out of the room, and turns to the younger brother. “What’ll you have?”

“I dunno,” quavers the six-year-old, “but you can bet your ass it ain’t gonna be Cheerios.”

Has anyone played Casino Domain. When I went to cash out I was surprised to find that you cannot cashout on any deposit less than two weeks old (supposedly to protect you from credit card fraud?). Are there other surprises awaiting me at Casinodomain.com?

Forum Highlights

There have been many postings recently concerning bonus incentives that many casinos offer. Many players fail to realize that there are stipulations involved which sometimes may be confusing. Over the past few days, some of our visitors have had problems with Golden Palace Casino’s bonus program:

By Swizzle Gal ( – 63.65.244.196) on Tuesday, May 9, 2000 – 11:12 pm:

I have been lurking here for only a couple of weeks, and I am sure glad that I found this site. I really enjoy gambling, but have only played at one site (Lucky Nugget) because of a free $50 promo that they were running. In addition to the $50 free, I purchased a total of $620 – but I was able to cash in with a total of $3650 (all from slots). I am interested in playing at other sites, and I am sure glad to see the opinions and experiences of others – I wonder why these people at Golden Palace don’t realize that by treating their customers poorly, they are losing many potential customers, and who knows how much money? After reading of these experiences, I would *never* play there. I am waiting to see what happens with my Lucky Nugget cash-in – they have credited my cards back, but the balance has not yet been received – but if I DO receive everything, I WILL play online again. The $620 that I purchased is a pittance compared to what I play at land-based casinos. Too bad for these “business people” that they do not realize how powerful the Internet is, how fast word travels, and what negative word-of-mouth (word-of-keyboard?) can do to a business.

Many people are very wary of Internet casinos – myself included. Even the smallest indication that something might be awry is enough to turn people away – and this place seems to be doing whatever they can to •••• people off (pardon my French).

Just my $.02 worth… I’ll go back to the shadows, now.

One other note: LVHM, you’re my hero.

^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*

He’s my hero too. But how about it? What about these bonus programs? How explicit should the rules be? Besides Golden Palace, which bonus programs have you had problems with? And of course, which ones do you consider top o’ the line? Post your experiences in our forum!!

“The frog in the well knows nothing about the ocean.” Japanese proverb

And like the frog in the well, there are many of you who may not have realized that Casinomeister is celebrating its second anniversary. We’ve come a long way since June of 1998. For nearly two years, we’ve been a focal point of players’ experiences in our forum. We’ve also amassed a wealth of information there. If you haven’t tried its search function yet, you ought to. You may be surprised at what you might find.

In fact, to celebrate our second anniversary, the forum has been upgraded. You can now modify your settings to show your home page, age, sex!!, favorite casino. I’ll also be adding a members only section (unlike he one that exists now) where only the members can view each others’ messages. In other words you can say whatever you like about anyone without fear of reprisals. If you wish to become a member, let me know, and when it’s in place I’ll send you a user name and password.

Congratulations to James Laws of USA ! He’s our Scavenger Hunt winner for May. That was an easy $200! June’s Scavenger Hunt is going strong. If you haven’t entered yet, now is the time to do so. The contest ends at midnight (Central European Time) on July 10th. Don’t delay. Check it out at

HOW TO BATHE A CAT

  1. Thoroughly clean the toilet.
  2. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water, and have both lids lifted.
  3. Obtain the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.
  4. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids. (You may need to stand on the lid so that he cannot escape).
CAUTION: Do not get any part of your body too close to the edge, as his paws will be reaching out for any purchase they can find.
  5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a “powerwash and rinse” which I have found to be quite effective.
  6. Have someone open the door to the outside and ensure that there are no people between the toilet and the outside door.
  7. Stand as far behind the toilet as you can, and quickly lift both lids.
  8. The now-clean cat will rocket out of the toilet, and run outside where he will dry himself.

Sincerely,
The Dog

A woman and her lover are in bed together when suddenly, her husband comes home. The woman jumps up, shoves the guy in a corner of the bedroom, rubs him down in baby oil and covers him in talcum powder. “Don’t move! You’re a statue!” she says. The husband comes up to the bedroom and inquires about the new decoration. The wife explains that the Smith family next door acquired a statue for their bedroom recently, and if they could get one, so could she.

The married couple go to bed, but at midnight the husband goes downstairs, gets a glass of milk and some cookies and comes back upstairs. He hands the snack to the ‘statue’ and says, “Here. I stood around for 3 days at the Smiths’, and they never fed me a thing!”

Things to find out BEFORE you gamble on the Internet

By Steve Adkins

Internet gambling can be as fun and exciting as a real casino. Instead of waiting for your lucky machine, you can just log on and play. While this multi-billion dollar industry grows at a substantial rate, it does remain non-regulated. The industry depends solely on self-regulation. Before whipping out your gold visa card there are a few things that you should know first.

When looking for an online casino to play, I recommend that you follow these very simple rules. I have spent years gambling online, and I have won tens of thousands of dollars:

  1. Is the casino licensed in a sovereign government? If no, find another casino. If yes, proceed to #2
  2. Is there a toll free customer service number that is answered 24 hours a day? If no, find another casino. If yes, proceed to #3.
  3. Do they allow you to play for free? This is very important; it gives you the chance to check out their software before you spend any money. If they do not, find another casino. If they do, proceed to the next section.
  4. What is the smallest denomination of their poker and slot machines? You’re looking for a wide variety of denominations, such as nickels, quarters, dollars and five-dollar machines.
  5. How many different versions of video poker do they have? You’re looking for at least three. That tells you that the operator has spent a lot of money on the software. Beware of those casinos that tell you they only have one version of video poker.
  6. What is the smallest and largest bet that they accept on craps or blackjack? This is more for your information then it really matters.
  7. Does the casino have a place where they keep track of your purchases and cashouts? Sites like www.ragstorichescasino.com and the www.luckynugget.com both have areas that let you see how you are really doing.
  8. How is the customer service? Simple, just send them an email with a question and see how long it takes them to reply.

CASHOUT PROCEDURES

There is no sense in gambling online if you do not know how you will collect your winnings.

BEFORE you wager one dime, you should call the toll free customer service number and ask the following question,” If I buy in with my credit card for $100.00 but cash out $300.00, how will I get paid?” BEWARE of those casinos that tell you they will send you a check. Be sure to ask how long it takes. Most casinos that send checks take up to 4 weeks. That is unacceptable! The only answer that you are looking for is that they will within 3 days credit back your credit card up to the original amount of purchase, then give you an option of mailing you a check overnight or doing a wire transfer into your account. No matter what they say, make sure you will get your winnings within about a week or find another casino. Another good way of finding good casinos is to visit sites like the Casinomeister. In the forum Casinomeister’s Forum, you will find postings about many different casinos.

A Must Read!

From The Cutting Edge: “Parrondo’s Paradox” by Jerry Patterson, Author Casino Gambling (#1 selling gambling book on amazon.com)

There’s a potential blockbuster new development in casino gaming theory. It’s called Parrondo’s Paradox (after Dr. Juan Parrondo, a renowned physics professor from Madrid, Spain). I first learned about it by reading a late December article in the science journal Nature. Parrondo’s Paradox shows how two losing games can be played alternately to produce a genuine positive expectation. That’s right … two games that lose individually can be structured and played in an alternating fashion to produce consistent, long-term winnings … and it can be proven mathematically. It’s based on a physics phenomenon called Brownian Ratchets. Early applications have Wall Street researchers achieving positive results in initial trials applying Parrondo’s Paradox to losing stocks.

I’ve been tinkering with Parrondo’s concepts applied to casino roulette and believe I’ve got an adaptation that works. This is all brand new, but it’s already getting a lot of immediate attention in the world of academia. A brief article even appeared in the New York Times’ science section a few weeks back. I’ve collected as much information as possible … which is substantial. The math is very deep, but understanding the general principles is not difficult.

The key to developing a successful casino play strategy seems to lie in the identification of particular casino bets that fit Parrondo’s model. From my brief work, it appears that random roulette is suited to exploit the phenomenon. Before I get to a roulette system using Parrando’s Paradox, a quick review of the principles: The Paradox proves that, when two losing games are played in a prescribed alternating fashion, they win. That’s right. Two games that lose on their own may be combined to produce long-term consistent wins. It makes no logical sense, but it’s a true, proven mathematically sound fact. That’s why it’s called a “paradox.”

Parrando’s math and computer models use coin tosses to demonstrate and prove his Paradox. His coins are weighted to produce consistent losing results. In our game of Roulette, we can closely approximate Parrando’s coin and game rotation parameters, but not perfectly. In casino Roulette, we have a huge built-in mathematical disadvantage of minus 5.26%. Parrando’s math doesn’t predict whether or not his method is strong enough to overcome that big a disadvantage in the real world. It’s up to us to find out. Our initial testing has yielded promising results. The step-by-step instructions are given here. But, again, please realize that this is for testing only. It is yet an unproven Advantage Method.

I recommend playing in your favorite Internet Casino in the “Free Play” mode before risking any money. Try it, and let us know your results. We will report findings in a future edition of Casinomeister’s newsletter.

1) Start with a session bankroll of 503 units. (I suggest no greater than $1units after testing in “free play.”)

2) With this method, you are actually going to play three games in one, all while seated at a single table. You will alternate play with each game. The three games will be labeled A, B1 and B2. Essentially, you will play in four-spin rotations. On the first spin, you will play A. On the second spin, you will again play A. On the third spin, you will play either B1 or B2. And on spin four, you will play either B1 or B2. Then, on spin five, you start the rotation all over again. To simplify, you alternate your play at two spins with game A, then two spins with game B, two spins with game A, two spins with game B, and so on. When playing game B, you have to choose between B1 and B2. This decision is based on the total value of your session bankroll at the time.

3) Game A is simple … $10 on Red. That’s it, just a simple $10 even-money bet on Red.

4) Game B is also simple, but a little more involved. There are two games within B – B1 and B2. With B1, you bet $2 on 1, $2 on 2, $2 on 35 and $2 on 36 at four inside numbers, straight-up, for a total bet of $8 on the spin. With B2, you bet $10 on Red and $10 on Even two outside, even-money bets, for a total of $20. B1 is played when your total session bankroll (all of the money in front of you) is divisible by three. B2 is played when your bankroll is not divisible by three. For example, when the rotation calls for you to play game B, you total your bankroll. If it is divisible by three, you play B1. If it is not divisible by three, then you play B2. For a numerical example, if, when the rotation calls for you to play game B you have 105 units remaining in your session bankroll, then you play B1 (105 is divisible by three). If you have 235 units in your session bankroll, then you will play B2 (235 is not divisible by three).

5) Your session starts with a 503-unit bankroll and ends when you have played 100 spins. Each session is defined as 100 spins.

6) Theoretically, you should be slightly ahead at the end of each 100-spin session.

That’s it! Please let us know how you fare with this promising new approach.

WORST EXCUSES FOR BEING LATE

13) Actually, I’ve been here for over 20 minutes, big guy – I was just out chillin’ in the van waiting for the end of the live version of ‘Freebird’.

12) I keep forgetting which side of the International Date Line you’re on.

11) We’re open on Thursdays?!?

10) It took this long to get the ol’ blood alcohol level down to the legal driving limit.

9) I had to take extra time this morning to wrestle with overwhelming aggressive impulses by reassuring myself that nothing would happen today that would push me over the edge.

8) My proctologist got stuck.

7) It was Senator Kennedy’s turn to drive today, so I’ve spent the last hour swimming.

6) I’m late because I was on the phone trying to get your lousy shipping department to send the company’s office supplies directly to the winner of my eBay auction.

5) Hey, time becomes meaningless when you’re as strung out as I am.

4) Sorry, sir. I overslept and dreamt I had a dead-end job, a windowless office and a humorless baboon for a boss.

3) Heidi Klum refused to untie me.

2) On the second Thursday of the month, the Campho-Phenique man comes by to fill the drum for my home supply of industrial- strength anti-canker sore gel.

1) I’m sorry, boss, but I had to stop to get you — uh — this box of ten donuts.

“Selecting An Internet Casino To Play” by Jerry Patterson, Author of “Casino Gambling” (#1 selling gambling book on amazon.com)

Before you play at any Internet Casino, here are the questions you need answers to and how to get the answers:

** Is the casino licensed by their host country?

** Do they have a reputation for making prompt payouts?

** Is their software audited by an independent accounting firm?

** Do they post their payouts for each game on a monthly basis?

** Have they been in business long enough to establish a bettor-friendly track record?

** Is their record free of customer complaints?

** Do they use a third party payment system to take the risk out of withdrawing money from your account?

** Do they have an easily accessible, friendly and helpful customer service department?

A good webmaster, like Bryan Bailey who runs the outfit sending you this newsletter, casinomeister.com, will consider all the issues and question before recommending a casino to you. There aren’t that many and you’ve got to be careful because some are nothing more than fronts for the casinos they tout. Bryan is one of only two that I have found in my travels around the Internet that are worthy of your trust.

The webmaster of the other, Got2bet.com, wrote me this letter recently: “It is obviously true that some webmasters, including myself, participate in affiliate programs as a means of earning income for the work we put into our sites. Some are able to avoid affiliate programs because they have strong secured advertising contracts — but in actual fact these are more often the sites to beware because in many cases they are actually fronts for a casino, or recommend only their key advertisers.

“There are a number of other ways to distinguish fair reviews from ‘red herrings’ (editor’s note: by “red herrings,” he means fronts for the casinos):

  1. Webmaster does not hide the fact that he benefits from affiliate programs;
  2. Webmaster does not accept advertising or participate in affiliate programs from low-quality casinos;
  3. Webmaster typically goes out of his way to help gamblers with emails and/or forums;
  4. Website is not covered in ads (i.e., top 100 sites).

“In order for a webmaster to spend the time to review casinos or gambling sites, he has to be one of two things:

  1. “rich” enough to be able to spend time promoting a hobby such as gambling, or
  2. able to make income from the effort he puts in.

“There is no distinguishing between the two save for affiliate programs and ads. One has to be careful accepting advice from anyone on any issue — but they must take the time to read through and judge for themselves. If they cannot do this on their own they should either ask others, perhaps friends, or accept the risks on their own.

“One other tip — very often, good websites will have exchanges or links to each other not free-for-all listings, not directories — through newsletters, recommendations on their pages, etc. In such cases all the prospective gambler need to do is establish that they are not owned by the same company, and they meet the criteria listed above. Once you find a good website or two, you will usually be able to find more which are linked in some way.”

A good letter with excellent advice. Now let’s move on – – –

A good source for information about Cyberspace Casinos if you want to do a little checking on your own is the Internet Gaming Commission, an independent outfit not connected with any casino and not taking advertising from any casino. They maintain a Web Site listing licensed and unlicensed Internet Casinos along with other information about the games. Their staff includes accountants, system engineers, and experienced gamblers. On their site you will find links to the casinos they monitor and evaluate where you can read of the experiences other gamblers have had with their listed Internet Casinos. If you are at all interested in playing at an Internet Casino, I recommend that you visit their site at www.internetcommission.com. This outfit is leading the way for Internet Casinos to adopt self-regulatory policies and has plans for becoming the dominant Web Site to support online gamblers who want impartial data about the casinos they visit.

Andy: “Doc, I had the worst dream of my life last night. I dreamed I was with twelve of the most beautiful chorus girls in the world. Blondes, brunettes, redheads, all dancing in a row.”

Psychiatrist: “Hold it, Andy. That doesn’t sound so terrible.”
Andy: Oh yeah? In the dream, I was the third girl from the end.”

The artist tried to concentrate on his work, but the attraction he felt for his model finally became irresistible. He threw down his palette, took her in his arms and kissed her.

She pushed him away. “Maybe your other models let you kiss them,” she said.

“I’ve never tried to kiss a model before,” he swore.
“Really?” she said, softening, “How many models have there been?”
“Four,” he replied, “A jug, two apples, and a vase.”

Probably, this is of concern to players from Eastern Europe like me. I saw an ad on gambling.com of an online casino at www.luckyliner.com, downloaded their Microgaming software and deposited money to find out my account locked out few minutes later due to license restrictions for players from Eastern Europe. There was not and is not any warning about Eastern Europe anywhere on the site. I told them that at least they could have warned about the restrictions. The casino could not do any better than to reply: “Why no warning on our web site? Sorry, we’ve forgotten. We will refund your money to your credit card” This refund has taken about a month. They repaid me very reluctantly only after I filed numerous complaints with Gambling Grumbles and IGC, while Ante-Up refused to help. They also tend to ignore clients’ emails.

Dice Control

How to get an Edge at Craps; Part 1 of 2 by Jerry Patterson

Is it possible to get an edge over the casino – an actual measurable statistical advantage? That’s what this report is all about. Let’s start with craps and dice control (Ref: my book, Casino Gambling, Chapters 10 & 11). Using Dice Control and/or betting on another shooter with Dice Control skills, the advantage is achievable and measurable.

Get out a pair of dice and hold them in your hands. Do that now and then come back here and continue reading (if you don’t have a pair, I suggest picking one up from the drugstore or casino next time you go). Put the two fives on top with the 1s pointing to the left. Now look on the inside faces – open up the two fives. What do you see? A six on the left die and a one on the right die – the seven.

Now look at the two outside faces – the left face and the right face. You see the other 1 and the other six – another seven. In setting the dice in this way, we are putting two of the sevens out of the way – one on the inside and one on the outside. I know, I know, they may not stay there as the dice fly through the air, but as you learn to control the dice and keep them more or less together through their orbit, the chances of these two sevens coming up are minimized. Not eliminated, minimized.

In Chapter 11 of my book, Casino Gambling, we developed the calculations for deriving the player advantage. And we showed that just one controlled throw out of of every 43 rolls of the dice would eliminate the house edge and yield a break-even game. So, it’s not that difficult to attain an advantage.

The set I showed you above we call the hard way set because the pairs show on all four sides: 5,5; 4,4; 3,3; and 2,2. This is a good set to use when you get some experience in executing the controlled throw, but not when you are first starting out as a rhythm roller. Use the Quick Set shown on page 130 of Casino Gambling.

Here is what to remember about the Quick Set: the dealer will never push the dice back to you with a seven on top – this is considered extremely impolite and is just never done. But the dice may come back to you with a seven on the side. Notice this when the stick man pushes the dice back to you prior to your throw. If you see the seven on the side, simply rotate either die a quarter turn to take off the seven. That’s all. Try it now with your two die – set a one and six on the side with a 3 and 2 on top. Rotate the right die a quarter turn to take off the seven. What do you see? You should see a 3, 1 on top and a 1, 2 facing you – the seven is gone and the chances of throwing a losing seven thereby minimized.

To summarize, the first lesson in advantage craps is setting the dice. Or at least understanding how the set affects the outcome. Do you need to set the dice to gain an advantage? No you don’t. But setting will achieve the highest advantage possible.

Casinomeister’s Forum: Online Casinos problems/successes: Atlantic Interbet

By TheBabe on Wednesday, August 9, 2000 – 08:56 am:

I have been playing at AIB for about two months now. I have not won anything at all and have lost thousands of dollars. They use their own ATM money processing system and you used to be able to deposit up to $500 a day. Today I went in and found out that they cut the deposit maximum to $125 per day. I asked the pit boss why this was done and was told “I don’t know…they started this new policy today”. Stunned by this inadequate answer, I waited until this evening when a more “experienced” Pit boss would be working. I again asked why the daily maximum was cut and she informed me that it was done for the “newbies” that play there and that “established players like myself will have the maximum raised within the next few days”. I asked if this was a definite truth and was told “well don’t quote me…but maybe it will happen”. What kind of answers are these???? What kind of site is this??? Was this done so that I, as well as other high limit players, cannot have a chance at getting some of the thousands of dollars they have lost???

I would love to hear from someone at AIB who has a direct answer to these questions, rather than a fairy tale. I challenge anyone from AIB to come to this forum and answer these questions.

By the way, one last question. When do you pay your winners? There are many of them running to “gambling grumbles” in search of help. I would recommend that every gambler be very cautious with AIB.

Dice Control — How to get an Edge at Craps

Part 2 of 2 by Jerry Patterson

Spek-@earthlink.net writes about his experience of using the data in Casino Gambling to find another rhythm roller (ref: amazon.com reader reviews). He turned a 20-unit buy-in into 340 units in 36 minutes. How did he do it? By using the techniques described in Casino Gambling and scouting for other rhythm rollers. This article is a summary of those techniques.

Here are the questions to ask yourself as you observe other shooters at the craps table:

Question 1: Does the shooter set the dice? You would like to see the set, but this isn’t mandatory.

Question 2: Does the shooter shake the dice in his hand before throwing? If the shooter shakes the dice, his throw will probably be random; watch his form carefully and you will know.

Question 3: Does the shooter throw the dice the same way each time; i.e., is his form the same, or nearly the same, on each throw? Notice the rhythm of the throw.

If the shooter throws the dice with no apparent form, it is obviously a random throw.

For control, you want to see the same release, and you want to see some elevation on the launch (not too much, visualize about 45 degrees and you will have it).

After the launch as the dice come down out of orbit, you want to see the dice landing approximately the same distance before the back wall each time. If the dice are skipping down the table or if the shooter is “feeding the chickens” as we call it, you are looking at a random throw (visualize a farmer’s wife with a box of feed in her left hand and her right hand reaching in and scattering feed in a repetitive movement – that’s “feed the chickens” – a random throw). Make it a habit of studying the other shooters and you will find one which delivers an advantage.

One more point, even if you get the right answers to these three questions, you may not get an advantage hand; i.e. a hand of greater than six rolls. One reason is that the shooter may not be setting and inadvertently picked up the dice with a seven on the side yielding a higher chance of throwing the seven.

Another reason may be a random outcome of a controlled throw. The dice will bounce after landing. The key words here are altering the natural outcome of the dice. This will not happen on every roll, not even for a skilled rhythm roller like me or my teammates. But you will find shooters like Mike did that will hold the dice for 36 minutes and deliver some fantastic profits on a long hand.

To end this article, let me ask you a question. Would you rather put your money, or increase your bet on a shooter who throws at random, or one with at least a modicum of control? Every crap shooter wants the long hand. This is what it’s all about. You have a better chance of realizing this goal with a controlled thrower. So evaluate the other shooters. Increase your bet if you see control; decrease your bet if you see random.

In your next casino session, make it a point of studying the other shooters. Bet with those that show some control. Lay off or make a table minimum bet only on those that “feed the chickens.”

And now for the humor……

Last week I got slammed for what seems to be me picking on the fairer sex. I guess I have run more than a fair share of jokes that poke fun at women. Sorry for the degradation ladies. I love women; I really do!

But what about drunks and the government?

A drunk stumbles out of a bar and he needs to go pee, so he makes his way into the cemetery behind the tavern. He walks right to the edge of a freshly dug grave, loses his balance and falls in.

There’s a puddle of water in the hole, and he spends the rest of the night yelling, “Help me, I’m cold! Someone help me, I’m cold!”

At closing time, another drunk walks behind the bar to go pee, and hears the noise. He gets to the open grave, looks down and says, “Of course you’re cold, you stupid son-of-a-bitch, you kicked all the dirt off yourself!”

Government Verbosity:

Pythagorean theorem: 24 words.

The Lord’s prayer: 66 words.

Archimedes’ Principle: 67 words.

The 10 Commandments: 179 words.

The Gettysburg address: 286 words.

The Declaration of Independence: 1,300 words.

U.S. Government regulations on cabbage sales: 26,911 words.

Atlantic Interbet replies to “thebabe’s” problem:

Casinomeister’s Forum: Online Casinos problems/successes: Atlantic Interbet

By Atlantic Interbet Management on Thursday, August 17, 2000 – 05:28 pm:

Dear Ms. TheBabe,

Please allow us to explain Atlantic Interbet’s new policies regarding initial deposit limits and the reason for the changes that have occurred recently.

In the past several weeks, after some in-depth research, some alarming statistics have come to our attention. We have discovered that over 90% of the players whose initial deposits exceeded $200 have subsequently charged them back against their credit cards.

We have also discovered that the vast majority of initial deposits are $100 or less. A pattern has developed that has become blatantly apparent and changes had to be made to prevent this pattern from continuing. While the exposure to violators is common in the online gaming industry, we must do our best to limit those who are simply looking for a loophole to capitalize on instead of winning money legitimately with fair game play.

We decided to take decisive action and limit our exposure by firstly limiting the initial deposits by new players until a comfortable history has been established with them. Once a full credit card statement cycle has passed with out incident of charge-back, you and our other loyal customers are welcome to visit www.atlanticinterbet.com and provide the necessary required information to increase your deposit limits.

After having explained the details which compelled us to implement these necessary adjustments, we hope you agree that these changes were in no way intended to limit the chances of our loyal customers or to decrease their odds of winning their money back.

Certainly, an online casinos greatest publicity occurs when people win. We want our loyal customers to win and to tell their friends where they won!

Lastly, in response to your inquiry regarding when we pay our winners, the answer is “Always”. There have been complaints of timeliness however and we are working diligently to improve our payout policies and procedures to make our thousands of winners happier. We originally outsourced payouts during our first year of operation but have recently taken that task in house. We have admittedly experienced some growing pains these last couple of months but can assure you that every winner has been paid. We will continue to work hard to earn your loyalty and we know that the only way to achieve that is by being fair and responsive to your needs. As we strive to improve, please accept our apologies when we fall short and give us the opportunity to respond to your concerns.

We thank you for your patronage and look forward to serving you in the future.

The Atlantic Interbet Staff

Editor’s note: Thebabe replied to this posting stating that she didn’t fall into this category, but thanked them for the explanation. It’s good to know what’s going on.

“SafeBet: A Watchdog Watching Itself”
copyright 2000 Bill Haywood

In order to reassure potential punters, e-casino websites routinely have little seals of approval attesting to their honesty. These seals are issued by various authorities who always claim to be independent, and usually claim to be non-profit. It ain’t so. In research for my book BeatWebCasinos.Com, I took a close look at a number of them and found that they are often not independent as they claim — even some of the better known and respected ones. Each of these watchdog and authentication organizations are discussed in detail in the book, I’ll look at just one for this newsletter.

One of the most solid and authoritative looking seals is the one issued by SafeBet. This organization announces prominently on its website that it is “independent,” “non-profit,” and has a team of engineers and mathematicians to test systems. I originally sought an interview with the group because it seemed to be the first credible and technically sophisticated outfit I’d found. Using the simplest of research techniques — checking the domain registration at Network Solutions — I got a phone number and eagerly called them. The phone rang at a residence, not a lab, of one Kim Douglas. Mr. Douglas was evasive, nervous, and claimed to have nothing to do with the organization whose phone he was answering. I understood why after just five more minutes of poking around Network Solutions. The SafeBet domain name is owned by DKD Enterprises of Marietta, Georgia. DKD also owns 41 e- casino domain names, including some in operation. Also owned by DKD is the domain for software designer Real Time Gaming. In fact, the phone number on the Real Time website is Kim Douglas’s cellphone! (Note that the initials for Kim Douglas are KD, as in DKD.) All the e- casinos I looked at using Real Time software were also certified by SafeBet, the “independent non-profit organization. SafeBet is Real Time Gaming. When they vouch for the honesty of a site’s software, they are vouching for their own programs.

I have nothing against Real Time other than that they are misleading. I still play their e-casinos and have had no problems. However, industry cutouts certifying the honesty of their own games is rampant. My book has interesting things to say about the eGaming Commission, Fidelity Trust Gaming Association, and the Ethical Online Gaming Association, and also some shortcomings that are becoming apparent in the Interactive Gaming Council.

That said, my book BeatWebCasinos.Com really isn’t about that; the fox guarding the hen house business is just an aside about places to avoid. What the book is really dedicated to is a systematic way of exploiting e-casino bonus promotions which insures that players win, but still remain welcome back. I hope you’ll check it out at

There was a limo driver taking a beautiful dark haired model to the airport. Halfway there, the front tire went flat.

The model said, “I don’t have time to wait for road service. Could you change it yourself?”

The driver said, “Sure.”

He got out of the car and proceeded to change the tire, but couldn’t get the wheel cover off. The model saw him struggling and asked, “Do you need a screwdriver?” He said “Sure, honey! But, first I have to change this tire.”

Casinomeister’s Forum: Online Casinos problems/successes: Something “fishy” at Blackjack.com Casino

By Vince V on Saturday, August 26, 2000 – 11:28 pm:

Few days back I registered with Blackjack.com to be able to try some of their blackjack games. I was mostly interested in Downtown LV and AC both 6 decks. Blackjack.com states 50% penetration, which is not as good as on land but for an e-casino is great.

I kept playing and playing for 45 minutes or so and waited for the shuffle to start the next shoe. It never came. So, I tried it again and didn’t get it either. Since I was ahead just playing Basic Strategy, I would have wanted to open a “real” money account with them, but not before the shuffle issue was cleared.

I decided to e-mail Blackjack.com and ask them. They state on their website that they’ll get back to you within 24 hours. I used the e-mail address posted on their website.

Ok, then I decided to call them and ask them directly. They don’t have an 800 number, but a local Antigua number that’s listed on their website. Numerous calls resulted in “we’re not here” message, prompting me to leave a message. At this point, I have decided to post a message here to perhaps find out somebody else’s experience with Blackjack.com and/or prompt the e-casino to answer the question: How does one know when a shuffle has occurred? I would not feel comfortable at this point having my money in their casino and I am very grateful I don’t! I cannot contact Blackjack.com to answer me a simple question, let alone one that has to do with withdrawing money.. Any follow up to this would be greatly appreciated.

Editors note: I too am unable to contact this casino www.blackjack.com. I would not wager ANY money at this site until this is cleared up. I’ve emailed the company that claims to run this casino, Paramount Trading Inc., but no response yet. Has anyone else had experience with this casino? Post!

“Two Books On Blackjack.” A Review by Jerry Patterson

This article is a review of the top book on my list of 10 Classic Blackjack Books: “Two Books On Blackjack” by Ken Uston.

Reason for inclusion on list: (1) A veritable history of Atlantic City blackjack in 1979 when the “candy store” was open for business; (2) excellent instruction for recreational players; (3) great pictures of Kenny in his glory days.

But before I get to this top book, let me tell you a little about my own, “Blackjack: A Winner’s Handbook,” which I have shamelessly included as #5 on my list of 10 classic blackjack books. “Blackjack: A Winner’s Handbook” has been in print since 1977, and having sold over a quarter million copies, stands alone as both the card counter’s handbook and the handbook for those players willing to look at winning alternatives to card counting.

Here are just a few of the highlights. The book:

** Explains table biases caused by the casinos’ nonrandom shuffle, how to avoid the dealer biases and how to turn the player biases to your advantage;

** Provides you with a 4-phased non-count strategy called TAKEDOWN that minimizes losses while enabling you to score in those games where the dealer is breaking and the players are winning;

** Gives you a complete home practice program including learning drills for basic strategy players and card counting;

** Provides a 5-step strategy for learning how to develop and use mental discipline to avoid losing and to increase your winning edge.

Now let’s get to our discussion of the top book on my list of 10 Classic Blackjack Books: “Two Books On Blackjack” by Ken Uston.

“Two Books On Blackjack” is really two books in one: (1) An adventure book titled One-Third Of A Shoe, and (2) an instruction book titled How You Can Win At Blackjack In Atlantic City and Nevada.

Picture yourself in Atlantic City in the summer and fall of 1978. Resorts Casino has just opened with the best blackjack rules in the world: A 4-deck game, double down on any two cards, no barring allowed, and early surrender. Playing basic strategy in this game, including the new early surrender basic strategy, yields a 0.25% player advantage!

Then, in early 1979, the casino control commission mandates a one-third of a shoe cut off as the shuffle point; i.e., the dealers were required to deal two-thirds of a shoe. Card counters reading this article will understand the significance of this rule — when the count indicated an advantage for the player, the player could bet anything, up to table maximum, with no fear of a shuffle-up to wipe out the advantage and no fear of getting barred from play. It didn’t take long for card counters from around the world to converge upon this game including Kenny Uston. The One-third of a Shoe portion of this book is Kenny telling the day-by-day story of forming his Team 5 and playing during these halcyon days (Teams 1 – 4 were described in his first book, The Big Player). He describes the problems of selecting and deciding on the Team Members, of deciding on the size of the bank and the bet size, of the Team almost disintegrating before it even began play because of a personality clash. He describes his interaction with the dealers and pit bosses in this “new blackjack environment” and compares it with his Vegas days. He describes what it was like competing against the other teams who converged on Atlantic City, especially a Czech team, whom he did not like because of their obnoxious behavior towards casino personnel thus making it more difficult for his team to operate. He describes the publicity, and, eventually, the public catching on to what was going on and raising their bets along with him and his team when the next hand yielded an advantage.

Then he begins to anticipate the inevitable; he knows the game is too good to last and begins to speculate how long it will take for the casinos to obtain the right to bar the counters. He knows their days are numbered and pulls every trick he can to prolong the fantastic game they are getting, including persuading the Czech team to go along with him on holding back on cashing their chips so as to reduce the impact on Resorts’ hold and fool them into thinking that their daily profits were higher than they really were.

He takes the reader along with him on this wild 9-day ride — the wins, the losses, the bankroll swings, the first double of a $60,000 bank, the encounters with the casino bosses and the other teams, the media attention, and the inevitable day when the fun had to end (“Black Tuesday”). His Team 5 ended up with a win, after expenses, of about $145,000. And memories they will cherish for a lifetime (unfortunately Kenny’s lifetime ended just seven short years later — he died of unknown causes).

But this history of Atlantic City blackjack is only part of this wonderful book. The other half is a how to book containing instruction for learning basic strategy including flash cards, some interesting facts about card counting and a discussion of some common misconceptions and commonly asked questions.

The pictures alone are worth the price of the book – 17 pages of them from childhood through his straight years with the Pacific Coast Stock Exchange, many media pictures of the team years, and my favorite — his picture with Team 5 (the one described in the book), with faces covered except his.Myself and my wife Nancy were hanging out with Kenny Uston in the late ’70s when Two Books On Blackjack was conceived, written and published so I admit to a little bias here in giving this book my #1 ranking on my classic list of 10.

The reason I decided to jump right to the top book on my list of 10 is that I have acquired a few hard-to-find, hard cover copies of this out of print book, with beautiful dust jackets, and will be happy to sell you one for just $10 postpaid when you purchase a copy of my book “Blackjack: A Winner’s Handbook.”

Purchase my book for just $11.65 either through Casinomeister’s store or direct from my office when you call to order “Two Books On Blackjack:” (800) 257-7130. If you order my book from Casinomeister’s store, just tell my office manager, Fletch, when you call and she will take your order for “Two Books On Blackjack” for just $10.

Well, it seems summer is over, at least it is here in Germany. Rain, rain, rain, and it’s a bit cooler now. What better time to start cleaning out email in-boxes (don’t delete this one though, please!) and looking at how we can improve our websites, or lives for that matter. Nevertheless, the little elves have been busy at Casinomeister, touching up this, touching up that. A new addition here, another one there:

Having a bad day? Next time you think you’re having a bad day, try to remember that…

  1. The average cost of rehabilitating a seal after the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska was $80,000. At a special ceremony, two of the most expensively saved animals were released back into the wild amid cheers and applause from onlookers. A minute later they both were eaten by a killer whale.
  2. In 1992, Frank Perkins of Los Angeles made an attempt on the world flagpole – sitting record. Suffering from the flu he came down eight hours short of the 400 day record, only to find that his sponsor had gone bust, his girlfriend had left him and his phone and electricity had been cut off.
  3. A women came home to find her husband in the kitchen, shaking frantically with what looked like a wire running from his waist towards the electric kettle. Intending to jolt him away from the deadly current she whacked him with a handy plank of wood by the back door, breaking his arm in two places. Until that moment he had been happily listening to his Walkman.
  4. Two animal rights protesters were protesting at the cruelty of sending pigs to a slaughterhouse in Bonn. Suddenly the pigs, all two thousand of them, escaped through a broken fence and stampeded, trampling the two hapless protesters to death.

Download times – what’s reasonable?

By jaycohen952 on Wednesday, September 6, 2000 – 02:26 pm:

I am wondering what you would call a reasonable download time for casino games. Last night, I spent approximately 1 hour downloading a casino with a 56K modem. Am I right in thinking that this is a rather long time? What sort of times should i normally look for when wanting to download?

I would appreciate if you could get back to me about this.

Many thanks

Jay

Here’s my response:

Hi Jay,

I agree, one hour is a bit too long (which casino was it??) Most game packages range from 4 to 8 mb. Now a 56k modem should be able to download this no longer than 20-30 minutes, depending on the traffic of course.

I’m in Germany with a ISDN line. I had to abort a download last night of some casino software because it was taking too damn long. Unfortunately the website (theredline.com) doesn’t state how large the file is the download page (listen up casino companies!) If I knew exactly how large the file was (I had already downloaded 8mbs), I may not have aborted the download since I would have known exactly how much would be left to download. We pay for our connections here by the minute.

IMO — The casinos need to design these download packages to be no larger than 6mb. I feel that many of these companies are not aware that the Internet behaviors of non-US residents are much different than those residing in the states. 30 minutes is way, way too long.

Bryan

Editors note: I received a nice response from Adam at support at http://www.theredline.com stating that the file is around 10mb. So I bailed out 2mbs too early. Oh well, I’ll give it another shot.

From the FAQ:

How do you know if the on-line games are fixed?

Internet gambling has been around awhile and thousands of people have played. There is now sufficient experience to be quite confident that the big-name software is not fixed. That is, the odds are the same as in a land casino with the same rules and payouts. However, this same accumulation of statistics from many players has also shown conclusively that some proprietary software does cheat. Proprietary means that the casino itself developed the software, they do not lease it from a major company. At several cheating sites it is estimated that blackjack players are up against about a 30% house advantage, rather than 1%. Major companies who sell software depend on players trust. They are also often publicly traded, and do not want to get mixed up in scandals.

Adam with the Redline.com or Asian Gamble Casino contacted me yesterday and offered to open an account for me to play and be the judge for myself of the software.

There has been allegations that his software was not honest and it was cheating.

This morning he did open me an account. I was playing video poker $5.00 machines with 5 coins in.

On hand 25 I drew one card to go for the low straight. I caught the Ace but it did not register a win at 20 coins or $100.00

I saved the screen and emailed Adam. Within minutes he said they were looking into it now and would get right back with me. Minutes later he asked for me to call.

You can hear for yourself at Casino Gazette This time I am honored to be on Channel One for this Breaking news Story.

From the FAQ:

What happens if your teenager uses your credit card to gamble online without your permission?

After you get done slapping your teen upside the head, contact the casino immediately and explain the situation. Unfortunately many people have used this ploy to renege on their losses (I don’t think anyone has complained to a casino that their teenaged son or daughter won money without their consent!) and most of the casinos will find it difficult to believe, but they might be willing to cooperate and return any lost funds. If the casino won’t budge, report it to your bank as transactions made by a stolen card, then have your teenager thrown in Juvenile Hall for a few months. Don’t plan on playing at this casino again, or many others like it. Most casinos share a “blacklist” of credit card accounts that have posed problems. Remember this is a business and instances of customer fraud are much higher than any fraud perpetrated by the casinos.

Is it legal to keep an inflatable doll past the contract expiration date?

No. I’ll send it back as soon as I can.

Rogue Casinos:

It’s taken me a while to put this together, but these are the casinos that we’ve had the most trouble with; the ones you should avoid at all costs, at least until they redeem themselves. I don’t like blacklisting anybody’s business, but some casinos lack the technology or in most cases the personal skills that their customers pay for. The LAPD, the FBI & the CIA are all trying to prove that they are the best at apprehending criminals. The President decides to give them a test. He releases a rabbit into a forest and each of them has to catch it.

The CIA goes in. They place animal informants throughout the forest. They question all plant and mineral witnesses. After three months of extensive investigations, they conclude that rabbits do not exist.

The FBI goes in. After two weeks with no leads they burn the forest, killing everything in it, including the rabbit and they make no apologies. The rabbit had it coming.

The LAPD goes in. They come out two hours later with a badly beaten bear. The bear is crying, “Okay, okay! I’m a rabbit, I’m a rabbit.”

From the Archives: Five Times Pay Slots

by Tony Franks

  1. From the machine’s expanded pay table select a win target that is roughly 25% greater than the number of coins you’re willing to risk. If you start with 200 coins, your win target should be 250; if you start with 300 coins, make your target 400 coins.
  2. Play until you either win your target amount, or until all of your starting bankroll is gone. On this type of machine a “play coins through only once” strategy is not a good idea. Because of the lower hit frequency, you have to replay small wins, enabling you to stay in the game longer. Give yourself a chance to hit your target payout, or more.
  3. The moment you hit your win target, quit the machine at once. You will have recovered your entire starting bankroll and show a significant profit. Not to mention all the slot club points you accumulated in the process. Pat yourself on the back for being a smart player and cash in your coins.

And now for the humor……

Two weeks ago was my 35th birthday, and I wasn’t feeling too great that morning.

I went to breakfast knowing my wife would be pleasant and say “Happy Birthday,” and probably have a present for me. She didn’t even say “Good Morning,” let alone “Happy Birthday.” I thought, “Well, that’s wives for you, at least the children will remember.” The children came in to breakfast and didn’t say a word.

When I started to the office I was feeling pretty low and despondent. As I walked into my office, my secretary, Wendy said, “Good Morning Wayne, Happy Birthday.” And I felt a little better; someone had remembered.

I worked until noon, then Wendy knocked on my door and said, “You know, it’s such a beautiful day outside and it’s your birthday, let’s go to lunch, just you and me.” I said, “By George, that’s the greatest thing I’ve heard all day. Let’s go.” We went to lunch. We didn’t go where we normally go; we went down the coast to a little private place. We had two chardonnays and enjoyed lunch tremendously. On the way back to the office, she said, “You know, it’s such a beautiful day. We don’t need to go back to the office, do we?” I said, “No, I guess not.” She said, “Let’s go to my place.”After arriving at her house she said, “Wayne, If you don’t mind, I think I’ll go into the bedroom and slip into something more comfortable.”

“Sure,” I excitedly replied. She went into the bedroom and, in about six minutes, she came out carrying a big birthday cake, followed by my wife, children, and dozens of our friends. All were singing Happy Birthday…

and there on the couch I sat… naked

Let me start by saying I find it amazing after all of these years so many still find my life so interesting. Where I live is hardly anyone’s business. But do let me say that “no one” moved me to Antigua. After traveling extensively in the Caribbean I made the choice to move there after my children were grown. I believe at this stage in my life I am entitled to some peace and relaxation any place I choose to live. My 16 year old said she thought we should do it now, saying she would finish high school there before moving onto college. We have since moved back as she wanted to finish school with the friends she has grown up with. And since her happiness is my # 1 priority, we talked about it, and decided to return to the States. After she is in college I will move to the Caribbean, without asking anyone’s permission first. As far as I know, this is my life to live as I see fit.

It’s sad that people that have nothing better to do than to try and slander and ruin someone else’s reputation. I guess some are so unhappy, bitter and bored with their own mundane lives they find some sort of excitement living thru others. When they have no idea what the truths are, they invent their own lies to fit the fabricated fantasy they happen to be telling at that moment.

I live a very simple, honest life and have no problem living with myself. I can look in the mirror every morning knowing I have done nothing to hurt others. How many can say that? I don’t let petty jealousies ruin my days. I choose not to participate in little clicks with people that have nothing better to do than gossip about others. After seeing the way some behave, I’m sure I made the right decision long ago to not involve myself with “tiny minded” people. I pick and choose my friends very carefully. Not everyone that passes thru my life becomes a “friend” I reserve that for the few “special” people in my life.

It’s sad to watch some adults act like children, throwing a tantrum if they don’t get their own way. Plotting and scheming, thinking of ways to take advantage of others. Then, if they don’t get their own way, they set out to ruin others. How pathetic.

And what about the people that don’t have the guts to actually sign their own name? They have something to hide and sign it “Anonymous”? I guess it’s easy to sit behind a computer and think, no one knows you so why not gossip and slander others. Might I suggest you clean out your own house before you attempt to clean others?

From the FAQ:

Isn’t gaming (gambling)online illegal?

This is a very grey area and it really depends on where you live and you country of residency. In some states in the US, it’s illegal to participate in gambling online. This is due to legislators trying to impose terms of the wire act to the Internet, a law that was to make betting on horses (or whatever animal)illegal over the phone. But trying to impose this law on the Internet does not quite work; too many loopholes and pitfalls. Also, to enforce a law banning certain activity on the Internet would be extremely difficult to enforce. There would be a certain invasion of privacy if government officials tried to monitor what websites people visit.

To date, there are no federal laws that will prosecute online bettors. There are laws that prohibit online casinos to accept bets (that’s why they are licensed in countries where it is legal). But there are some states that do have laws passed: California, Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin all have some form of a law that prohibits Got2bet. The best bet (no pun intended) is to check with your local legislators to find out if it’s okay. Or better yet, call up your local police department to see if they even care.

And now for the humor……

An American astronaut has an emergency during his re-entry into earth’s atmosphere and his space craft crash-lands in the Australian bush, way out in the middle of nowhere.

After what seems like an eternity, he wakes up in a bush clinic, very rustic, dirty, with foul smells and he is bandaged from head to foot. He sees a very large, somewhat gruff looking nurse approaching him as he lies in his cot.

“Did I come here to die?” he says with a deep sense of resignation and fear.

“No,” the Aussie nurse replies, “You came here yesterday.

FORUM HIGHLIGHTS
There was a complaint this week against Royal Dynasty Casino stating that the casino did not pay a player his winnings since he was residing in the US. The player is not a US citizen.

The casino made this statement:

By Royal Dynasty Casino ( – 206.253.164.97) on Tuesday, October 3, 2000 – 03:01 am:

Royal Dynasty Casino is an honest casino and we honor our debts, but only in compliance to national law. The United States has taken a firm stand on Internet gambling. Gambling debts are not to be paid to U.S. residents or to individuals residing in the U.S. regardless of their citizenship.

Mr. L* had not registered using a credit card and therefore our system did not recognize him as a player. More importantly, Mr. L* was residing in the United States when he gambled with us. His German citizenship does not exempt him from the laws of the U.S. when he resides there. Therefore, in compliance with U.S. law we did not pay Mr.L*** his winnings. However, we intend to contribute the amount of his winnings to charity and will produce a cleared check from the charitable organization to concerned parties.

We hope this clears up this matter as this is our final position.

^^^^^^*
Unfortunately, the casino does not seem to be flexible at all in this matter. There are no federal laws in the US that prohibit people from betting at online casinos, only a few states have passed laws regarding this issue. It is unfortunate that a casino is this misinformed about what is legal and not legal for US citizens. What do you think?

And now for the humor……

(you should read this with a heavy Brit accent)

Just after I got married, I decided to have a night with “the boys.”

I told the misses that I would be home by midnight…promise! Well, the yarns were being spun and the grog was going down easy, and at around 3 a.m. full as a boot, I went home.

Just as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock started, and cuckooed 3 times. Quickly I realized she’d probably wake up, so I cuckooed another 9 times. I was really proud of myself, having the quick wittedness, even when smashed, to escape a possible conflict.

The next morning the misses asked me what time I got in and I told her 12 o’clock. Whew! Got away with that one!

She then told me that we needed a new cuckoo clock. When I asked her why she said “Well, it cuckooed 3 times, said ‘shit,’ cuckooed another 4 times, farted, cuckooed another 3 times, cleared its throat, and cuckooed twice then giggled.”

Casinomeister’s Forum: Online Casino Complaints: Boss Media

By Anonymous ( – 207.12.170.217) on Sunday, October 8, 2000 – 01:42 am:

Why does Boss Media declare that random numbers are fair because they are generated by a “Geiger-Muller Tube Detector”? I put the words “Geiger-Muller” in a search engine to discover that this is a device used for measuring radiation, as in Geiger counter. Furthermore, Prestige Casinos (Boss Media) sends me an e-mail stating: “You cannot lose at Prestige Casino”. Then describes a contest where the “winners” are the players who lose the most money during the contest period. These outright lies keep me away from Boss Media casinos and those web sites that recommend them.

^^^^^^^^^^^*

By Admin ( – 149.225.8.158) on Sunday, October 8, 2000 – 05:46 pm:

Hi Anonymous,

You should have done a little more research before jumping to conclusions. If you visit http://www.io.com/~ritter/RES/RNGMACH.HTM there is an article that discusses the use of the “Geiger-Muller Tube Detector”. Here is an extract:

Nisley, E. 1990. BASIC Radioactive Randoms. Circuit Cellar Ink. April/May. 58-68.

“While pseudo-random (pronounced “fake random”) numbers may be OK for computer science types, Real Engineers get Real Random Numbers by timing nuclear disintegrations with a Geiger-Muller detector.” “A few months ago I saw the RM-60 Micro Roentgen Radiation Monitor from Aware Electronics. It is a Geiger-Muller tube that connects to a PC’s parallel or serial port, with the circuitry drawing power from a single interface pin.”

So apparently there is a Geiger Counter attached to the serial port of Boss Media servers.

Please forward me the email you received from Prestige Casino as I would like to check it out. The wording sounds a bit off, but as an”outright lie”? I’m not so sure.

Casinomeister recommends Boss Media casinos as do most websites that have any online casino content. So to keep away from these sites you’ll be living in a pretty lonely cyber-casino world.

Hi Anon,

Well I won’t go into the Geiger issue, as I think that Bryan has answered that perfectly, however I must defend our latest promo.

I realize that the title of the promo is slightly contradictory, but it is a kind of play on words.

Each week there are plenty of players who win at Prestige, and there are also players who lose whether it is due to bad judgement, a bad day or whatever. That’s what happens in a casino, whether you decide to play in Vegas or Hong Kong or even online!

This ‘alternative’ competition benefits players who may lose their deposits etc, and in that sense, that’s the meaning of the slogan; You can’t lose..especially as the top prize is $1,000!

How We Choose Which Casinos to Promote at Casinomeister:

We do not accept advertising from any casino. We have turned down three casinos this week alone. Two casinos had only java games to offer (we do not recommend using java games for playing for cash). The other casino had a bad customer support reputation.

How do we choose who is presented here?

+They must be licensed.

+They must be prompt in answering customer queries.

+They must be willing to divulge information about their business.

+They must have a clean history of fairness towards their customers.

We use the postings in our forum and USENET newsgroups as guides, looking at the history of the casino and seeing if there are many customer complaints. We also look to see if their customers recommend these casinos. For casinos that are new, we look at what is unique about this casino. What does it have to offer that its competitors lack? Perhaps it’s a certain interesting theme. Maybe it has many interesting promotional programs.

Whatever the case may be, you can’t go wrong with the casinos listed here. Accredited Casinos

Some important notes to consider before making deposits at any casino:

+Read their Rules and Regulations and make sure you understand them. These are usually posted at the casino’s website and can be read before having to invest your precious time downloading their software.

+Make sure you are allowed to make real money deposits. US citizens may be excluded at the casino.

+Understand the rules for bonuses. Most online casinos apply bonuses to first time customers; some to returning customers. Nevertheless, there are limits to the amount that the bonus may be. For instance, if they offer to apply a 35% bonus to your first deposit, make sure you understand whether or not there is a limit to how much the bonus is applied to. Read the rules!

+You are responsible for the use of your computer. When you sign up, you are agreeing that you are responsible to keep you username and password private from third parties. Don’t let your teenagers use your computer! They’ll screw you over!

If it doesn’t come back, it was never yours to begin with. But, if it just sits in your living room, messes up your stuff, eats your food, uses your telephone, takes your money, and doesn’t appear to realize that you had set it free…….You either married it or gave birth to it.

Casinomeister’s Forum: Casino Ads: New winning in the casino course

By Dave R on Saturday, October 21, 2000 – 08:14 pm:

I believe that:

1) Having a winning attitude will increase chances of success in life, and at the casino.

2) Each of us as the potential of creating our own reality, and the power to manifest most of what we desire in life.

3) There is no randomness in God, but there IS randomness in a casino.

4) You cannot win long term at the casino without a method to overcome the house advantage. No betting system can overcome this house advantage. This especially applies to slots. The majority of slot machines only payout 90% of the amount you put into the machine. (Some casinos located in more competitive areas like Atlantic City pay 92-97%) You are always being shortchanged, and even if you have good short term luck on one visit, if you keep playing indefinitely, you’ll lose it all back.

5) Having good self confidence and a good attitude will not turn a negative expectation game into a positive one. It will not increase your chances of winning more jackpots. The RNG’s in the slot machines of land based casinos are truly random.

6) There are very few opportunities to overcome the house advantage, but they do exist, and in order to do so, you must become a highly skilled player. This can take years of reading. Knowledge is power, but in the constantly changing world of casino gambling, you must update your knowledge as often as possible.

7) Some players believe in the myth that just because they’ve hit a number of jackpots and have won a wad of cash that their gameplay is mathematically correct. IE. One player I know says to always draw with 3 to a royal in video poker. He may have done well with this concept, and has hit more jackpots because of it, but it is not the optimal way to play. The best way to keep more of you overall profits LONG TERM is by following Bob Dancer’s methods.

8) A highly skilled player can overcome the house edge in blackjack, poker, sports betting, video poker and other games. A good source of information for both beginners and advanced bj and vp players is http://www.gamemasteronline.com

9) It is possible to beat the Internet casinos long term by becoming a bonus hustler and following all of the casinos rules and regs. The best book on the subject is available at Barnes and Noble and is called “BeatWebCasinos.com”by Haywood. ed note: you can also purchase Haywood’s book this through our store at

10) There is major corruption in the Internet gambling industry. There is no regulation whatsoever. Several software providers have RIGGED the games to deliberately cheat the player. For instance, in blackjack, the casino software provider may remove a couple of extra 10 value cards from the 6 or 8 deck shoe. This is hardly noticeable by the player. But over the course of thousands of hands, the casino and software provider is able to SKIM thousands of extra $$ from players.

So to sum it all up, randomness is randomness. No one is going to win more slot jackpots because some Internet course promises to improve his/her attitude in life. The odds are stacked against the player and no amount of plosive thinking can change that. You can’t create your own jackpots until you realize that gambling all comes down to one very simple concept:

How to Get An Edge

by understanding the Eight Key Decisions which are part of each of your Casino Gambling Sessions: Excerpted from Chapter 2 of Casino Gambling by Jerry Patterson

If you’re flat betting, i.e., betting the same amount on each hand, roll of the dice, or spin of the wheel, you get an edge by winning more bets than you lose. If you’re varying your bet size, you get an edge by knowing when you enter the advantage arena and when to increase your bet. Understand these eight key decisions which you make in each of your casino gambling sessions, and you will take giant steps towards grabbing an edge every time you play. I suggest taking some time to read this page and/or bookmarking it for later return. Time management and money management are the keys for ascending to the advantage arena, for staying there, and for any short-term approach to a potential winning casino gambling session. I like to express this idea as eight decisions that you make in conjunction with each gambling session.

Making these decisions will establish the discipline that most gamblers lack, but most winning gamblers possess – the discipline to Get The Edge! They are:
Decision 1: To play or not to play;
Decision 2: Which game to play;
Decision 3: Which casino to play;
Decision 4: Which table to play;
Decision 5: Betting unit size and tactics for increasing the bet;
Decision 6: When to leave the table;
Decision 7: When to leave the casino;
Decision 8: When to terminate the casino session.

Taken together, these eight decisions constitute a Plan Of Action for your gambling trip (if you’re traveling to a remote location like Las Vegas) and your gambling sessions. You should think about each one before leaving home and/or before each gambling session, and write down your thoughts on each decision. I recommend that you use a small pocket notebook and write down your thinking on each of these decisions before you play. But even if you don’t write down your decisions, think about them. You will find that this mental preparation to become “mentally ready” will contribute to and enhance your winnings or minimize your losses during the inevitable losing sessions. Let’s examine each decision in detail.

Decision 1: To Play Or Not To Play.
Ask yourself three questions before you leave home for the casino, or before you leave your hotel room for a session:

  1. Am I tired?
  2. Am I emotionally upset?
  3. Do I have a plan of action of this session?

If you answered yes to either of the first two, you should seriously consider not playing at this time because your risk of losing is high. Or, if you play, reduce your bet size, or have some fun with the quarter video poker machines. The casinos will always be there; go when your energy level is normal or high and you are mentally ready to exercise the discipline to win. Tired or emotionally upset gamblers risk losing their discipline to stick with a plan of action; if this happens, you are usually beaten before you start. The third question above regarding the plan of action is, essentially, consciously making these eight decisions. As noted earlier, you should document each one, but even if you don’t, think through each one before your session.

Decision 2: Which Game To Play
Most gamblers have a favorite game which they spend the majority of their session time playing. Blackjack is the most popular followed by craps, roulette and baccarat. Reading this book probably indicates that you are interested in learning to play and win at one or more of these popular casino table games.

Choose the game you feel at which you have the best chance of winning, or the game you have practiced at home and prepared for. If you decide to play more than one game, allocate the time you plan to spend on each. For example, you may be a good blackjack player and plan to spend an hour or so playing blackjack, and then hit the craps tables to practice and/or execute your controlled throw. This all sounds mundane, but it’s important to think it though before your session. The idea is to establish discipline.

Decision 3: Which Casino To Play
If you have a choice of casinos, choose one with the greater number of tables and the less crowded conditions. For blackjack, the more tables you can scout, the more chance you’ll have of finding a player-favorable game. The same goes for roulette — more tables equals a greater chance of finding a dealer signature or power sector. If you’re playing craps, you want to find uncrowded tables in which you can get more turns with the dice to practice and/or execute your controlled throw and gain the edge over the casino. If you live close to a casino location and play often, you should assess the conditions at your local casinos; find out which times are best to play within your own playing constraints.

An Important Note to Internet Casino Players: I recommend choosing a casino which deals its games using genuine random numbers, not pseudo random numbers. For a definition and description of random numbers used by online casinos, refer to my prior article in casinomeister’s newsletter or request request the Free Special Report: Internet Casinos — Possibilities And Pitfalls.

How to Get An Edge

by understanding the Eight Key Decisions which are part of each of your Casino Gambling Sessions: Excerpted from Chapter 2 of Casino Gambling by Jerry Patterson

Part II (continued from last week)

Decision 4: Which Table To Play

Are you going to use blackjack’s winning factors to scout for and find player-favorable games (Casino Gambling, Chapter 7)? Are you going to scout for a power sector at roulette (Casino Gambling, Chapter 17)? Or practice your controlled throw (Casino Gambling, Chapter 12)? This decision ties into which game to play, but keeping it as separate decision in your winning paradigm is a key part of your approach to the discipline I’m stressing in this chapter. The idea is to make a conscious decision and NOT, as most gamblers do, enter a table at random; i.e., any table with an open seat or open spot.

Decision 5: Betting Unit Size and Tactics for Increasing the BetMaking this decision starts with a basic money management policy – the size of your bankroll and the number of units into which you break it. I recommend a 100-unit bankroll, but I realize that aggressive gamblers will go for 50 and some even less. I know gamblers who leave home with a couple of hundred dollars and bet with $5 and $10 units (a 40-unit or 20-unit roll). The fewer the units you break your bankroll into, the higher the risk of tapping out, so it’s best to accumulate a 100- or at least a 50-unit bankroll before you take off for the casinos. If you’ve been gambling a while and read other books, you’ve read this policy elsewhere, but it’s important enough to repeat here: Establish a gambling bankroll with money you can afford to lose and then set it aside for strict use at the tables. Once you’ve defined your unit size, think about the level of risk you wish to take in raising your bet. Are you aggressive? Do you want to go for the jugular when you get into a hot game? Or play it conservative settling for less of a win, but not giving back a whole lot when you do get ahead, or not losing as much when things don’t break your way? Now decide on which betting strategy you are going to employ. I recommend choosing one in this book, but if you’re a recreational gambler and have your own betting strategy which has worked well for you over
the years, by all means, use it.

Decision 6: When To Leave The Table
How do you know when it’s time to leave a table? Here are the three criteria to use:

  1. Depart on a Game Breakdown
In blackjack, if you find yourself playing into a strong dealer bias and losing most of your hands, it’s time to leave. Don’t wait for things to turn. Strong dealer biases can last for many shoes, some for hours. Get away quick; cut your losses short.
In craps, if you’re having trouble in executing your controlled throw and suffering too many quick seven outs, its time to leave.
If you’re playing for fun, remember Huey Mahl’s words of wisdom: “we are exposed to the vagaries of dice for very short periods in the overall scheme of things”.
Anything can happen in the short term. The table may be in a losing trend and this losing trend could continue even though, in the long run, things will even out to the small house edge. If you don’t believe that craps tables exhibit trends, observe several games in your next session. You’ll see hot tables, cold tables and choppy tables. In roulette, if the power sectors are not sustaining and you are not hitting early on, call it off and
move on to another game or take a break.
  2. Depart on a Stop-loss
Part of this decision process is establishing a stop-loss which would apply to each table you enter. How many betting units will you lose before you quit playing and depart? I’ve discussed stop-loss considerations with each betting tactic described in this book. You need to review them and adopt the ones that fit the level of risk you are prepared to take.
  3. Depart on a Stop-win
This is a concept which is foreign to many gamblers, but very important nonetheless. A stop-win is the opposite of a stop-loss. A stop-win can occur in one of two ways: (1) you have set a win goal for this session and accomplished that goal; (2) you’re in a hot game and have experienced a nice win; you’ve set a trailing stop-loss and have moved it up as you continued to win; the trailing stop-loss is triggered and you depart on a stop-win.

Decision 7: When To Leave The Casino If you have a choice of casinos in the casino location you find yourself in, leave when the tables are crowded and you have difficulty finding a winning table in blackjack, or a craps table where you can get the dice quickly or a roulette table where power sectors are hitting. Go to a casino with better conditions. I live near Atlantic City and enjoy wonderful conditions: eleven casinos within a one and a half mile section along the famous boardwalk. So I have no problem in changing casinos. Atlantic City offers the best playing conditions in the world especially if you like to walk. No auto traffic; bike traffic only between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.; just fresh air and a beautiful ocean. And plenty of games to choose from — hundreds of blackjack tables and dozens of craps and roulette tables. Sure the Vegas Strip compares favorably, but there is the traffic to contend with whether you are walking or driving. Downtown Vegas offers good conditions but fewer tables to choose from. If you’re locked in to a one-casino location, be careful. If playing conditions are bad, keep your bet sizes small and respect your stop-losses. Keep in mind that every unit you save, every unit you don’t lose, looks that much better especially after a losing session because you’ve cut your losses short. Never give back a win when you’re confronted by poor playing conditions. This is the time to go to the Video Poker machines and have some fun playing with quarters.

Decision 8: When To Terminate The Casino Session

There are three good reasons to terminate a gambling session:

  1. You have reached the limit of your optimal session time. You need a break to keep your perspective and your control. I have found that, in many years of working with my gambling students, optimal session time is around 90 minutes. Give it a try.
  2. Fatigue; you are just plain tired and this is affecting your judgment and play.
  3. Serious loss. For example, you lost your discipline and dropped a session bankroll at one table. Don’t dig for more money. Leave and take a break. Assess the situation. We call these eight decisions a winning paradigm; taken together, they constitute a plan of action for your casino trip and/or session. I suggest cutting and pasting this page into a Word Processor document and then printing it out for study and use. Better yet, purchase Casino Gambling and read Chapter 2; there’s more good advice therein besides these eight decisions.

Best of luck!

And now for the humor……

Once upon a time, there was a very wealthy, but very shy, and very lonely, young man, who lived in the country.

It so happened that a bridle path went through his back yard. One day, a beautiful young girl rode her horse along the bridle path and through his yard. He fell in love with her on sight, but was too shy to follow her.

The next day, at the same time, the girl rode past again.

Again, the young man was too shy to pursue her. This went on for weeks, and the young man fell ever more deeply in love with her, and his frustration grew, and he cursed his shyness. He decided he must do something; but what?

It came to him in a flash; he would paint his horse green, and tie it up by the bridle path; surely the girl would notice this and ask him about it, and he could speak to her!

That morning, he painted his horse green, tied it up by the bridle path where the girl was sure to see it, and waited anxiously. Sure enough, she rode past; when she saw the horse, she stopped, and, eyes wide, said, “Oh! You have a green horse!”

The young man said, “Yeah, wanna ****?”

Making the jump from land-based to online casinos

by Spearmaster

Part 1 – Setting the Stage

Gambling Online can be described as having the Las Vegas Strip in your own home, at your own convenience 24/7 like the local 7-Eleven. You can play where you want, anytime you want, simply by turning on the computer, logging on to the Internet, and selecting which casino you wish to play at.

There’s no worry about how much time you have left before your flight leaves, how much the hotel bill is, and rushing to buy last-minute souvenirs for your family and friends. You simply make your cup of french vanilla cappuccino, prepare some snacks and settle into your chair for a few hours of work.

No, that’s not a mistake. Sure, gambling is entertainment as well, but unlike being in Vegas, you are spending regular time at the casinos, and your object is to win – if you knew you were going to lose you certainly wouldn’t be gambling. Perhaps 5-10% of gamblers – and that’s probably a liberal estimate – treat a trip to Vegas as work – but if you are going to gamble from home EVERYONE must treat gambling as work.

When choosing a casino, spend a little time doing research online about various casinos – there are a number of good website and message boards which have a lot of information on both good and bad places to play. Other than Got2bet, some other good places to check are WinnerOnline, Gambling Grumbles, GameMaster Online and Casinomeister’s.

So you start up your favorite casino, log in, and presto! It’s time for work. Now what do you feel like playing?

At most casinos, the best bet is to play blackjack, roulette, craps and concentrate on near 50-50 bets at the tables – or perhaps you prefer video poker, which with good play is also nearly a 50-50 proposition. Of course, if you really like to GAMBLE, you can always take a shot at the progressive slot machines. Or keno for a high return on a small bet, though this is typically the worst bet in the casino.

Whatever game you choose, make sure you know the rules, and the strategy, before you start – one great advantage of being a home is that you can refer to your printed copy of a strategy card without feeling embarrassed. A good place for this information is The Wizard of Odds.

When making a deposit at the casino, make sure you have read the rules for cashing out – these are usually located on the website under “Cashier” or “Banking”. Also make sure that the amount you deposit will not cause you any distress later should for some reason you lose the entire amount – it is much more comforting to play with pocket money than grocery money. One very good reason for this will be covered in a later part of this series – controlling your emotions. Also, don’t deposit more than you intend to play with for this session – there are no charges for making deposits – the only exception is when a deposit earns a matching bonus – Part 2 of this series will cover bonus types.

Once you’ve made this deposit, set your plan for the session. Let’s say you’ve deposited $100, and your goal is to double that deposit to $200. Once you’ve reached that goal, LOCK that money in your mind. If there’s any excess left, try to turn that into another $100 – but DON’T dig back into the $200 if you run out. If you reach $300, do the same thing with any excess – set a new goal and try to reach that, but lock the $300 away. REMEMBER – you are WORKING, not PLAYING.

Following this method, once you’ve run out of money or any excess portion, QUIT for the day. Whether you cash out or not is up to you, but treat those winnings as if they are no longer winnings, but YOUR MONEY. Take the family out to dinner, go see a movie, do some shopping, whatever. Enjoy the fruits of your work for the day.

If you have lost, don’t despair – but DON’T put any more money in. Treat it just like you would your workday – quit and start afresh tomorrow. There is no such thing as “My luck must surely change now” – this is what casinos would love you to think. Frankly, most people who gamble for a living know that skill is essential in making money, and luck is just a figment of your imagination.

And now for the humor……

How ’bout some Turkey-day trivia?

Cut and planed lumber was hard to come by in the New World, and since the Pilgrims didn’t intend to go back to Europe, they dismantled the Mayflower and used its lumber to build a barn.

Ben Franklin wanted the turkey, not the eagle, to be the U.S. national symbol. He considered the eagle a “bird of bad moral character” because it lives by being a shrewd thief.

Franklin Roosevelt tried to change the Thanksgiving holiday date to the next-to-last Thursday in November in order to create a longer Christmas shopping season, but was forced to move Thanksgiving back to its original date because of negative public response.

The heaviest turkey ever raised weighed in at 86 lbs, about the size of a large German Shepherd. It was grown in England.

When Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin sat down to eat their first meal on the moon, their foil food packets contained roasted turkey and all of the trimmings.

Turkeys can drown if they look up when it is raining.

Turkeys in fields near the Air Force test areas over which the sound barrier was broken were known to drop dead from the shock of passing jets.

Casino-on-net is removed from the “Rogue Casino” list! I was contacted by the management of Casino-on-net concerning their listing in our Rogue Casino section. You know, the section where we list casinos that are either ripping people off or have pathetic customer service. Last year I had dreadful encounter with their affiliate program, and they were also experiencing problems with their customer service; thus the rogue listing. But since then, they have discontinued their affiliate program and their customer service seems to have improved (I was emailed by several Casino-on-net players stating that they have had good experiences). Thus, I removed them from the list. See, it’s possible to be redeemed from the rogues. In a perfect world, I would like to see them all removed.

A man walked by a table in a hotel and noticed three men and a dog playing cards. The dog was exhibiting an extraordinary performance. “This is a very smart dog,” the man commented. “He’s not so smart,” said one of the irked players. “Every time he gets a good hand he wags his tail.”

^^^^^^*^
From the archives:

Forum Highlights

The forum has been getting swamped with complaints recently. I’ve been having a hard time trying to keep up, but never fear, the forum meister is here. I try to assist when I can but posters must remember to post responsibly. In other words, if you have a problem with a casino, leave an email address where you can be reached. Just don’t post anonymously and piss and moan incoherently. Can’t help you there.

Right now I think the majority of problems encountered by players is the unresponsiveness that many casinos partake in when handling their customers. Perhaps it’s the growing pains that a casino is experiencing, unable to keep up with their customer demands. Nevertheless, this is unacceptable. Growing pains or not, casinos have an obligation to their players to provide prompt service.

All in all, most of the complaints that have been posted seem to slowly ironed out. If you’ve posted a complaint recently, and nothing seems to be happening, let me know and I’ll see what I can do to get some sort of action underway.

And Now For The Humor…

A strong young man at the construction site was bragging that he could outdo anyone in a feat of strength. He made a special case of making fun of one of the older workmen. After several minutes, the older worker had had enough.

“Why don’t you put your money where your mouth is,” he said. “I will bet a week’s wages that I can haul something in a wheelbarrow over to that other building that you won’t be able to wheel back.”

“You’re on, old man,” the braggart replied. “Let’s see what you got.” The old man reached out and grabbed the wheelbarrow by the handles. Then, nodding to the young man, he said, “All right. Get in.”

Golden Palace ripped me off! Do not trust them! They will take your money, but they won’t pay out.

I hope you’ll check it out at http://www.rge21.com/ I can be reached at bhay-@rge21.com.

And Now For The Humor…

One afternoon, a man was riding in the back of his limousine when he saw two men eating grass by the road side. He ordered his driver to stop and he got out to investigate.

“Why are you eating grass?” he asked one man. “We don’t have any money for food.”, The poor man replied.

“Oh, come along with me then.”

“But sir, I have a wife with two children!”

“Bring them along! And you, come with us too!”, he said to the other man.

“But sir, I have a wife with six children!” the second man answered.

“Bring them as well!”

They all climbed into the car, which was no easy task, even for a car as large as the limo. Once underway, one of the poor fellows says “Sir, you are too kind. Thank you for taking all of us with you.” The rich man replied “No, I appreciate you: the grass at my home is about three feet tall!”

By chagall on Friday, December 8, 2000 – 10:59 am:
In analyzing some java scripts for one of my courses, I came across a site on which I could see some of the script NOT meant for the web surfer. It was ranking the casinos and the empty boxes said “$200. will get you this spot!” and another one “$ buy this spot for $300.” and so on. So much for fair casino ranking. The portal was Gamblehouse but I’m sure they are all the same.
