News coming out of Malta this afternoon, with the news that the island’s regulator, the MGA ( Malta Gaming Authority ), are strengthening their links with the Tennis Integrity Unit ( TIU ). For those unaware, the Tennis Integrity Unit is the game’s anti corruption body, which encompasses all forms of professional tennis, worldwide.

Set up to combat all forms of betting related corruption within the game of tennis, the latest agreement between the MGA and TIU, further strengthens the relationship the two bodies have enjoyed for a number of years. Thus enhancing prevention and investigation processes surrounding match-fixing and manipulation of sporting events.

The MGA’s Sports Integrity Officer, Antonio Zerafa stated that: “The MGA has long held an excellent relationship with the TIU, but this agreement will allow the MGA & the TIU to formalise a structure to share data and information in compliance with the law, for the purposes of detecting, preventing and investigating the manipulation of sports competitions.”
