Innovative system will expand betting options
A new partnership between Unibet and top Scottish football team Celtic FC will see live odds on the gambling firm's website made accessible to the Club's CelticLIVE wi-fi system.
The CelicLIVE system additionally comprises a dedicated matchday app which was developed by sports media and digital marketing agency Sports Revolution who also brokered the deal.
The app, which has been downloaded more than 50 000 times since its launch in 2013, has played over 79 000 videos while reaching 4.7 million fans using shared content on social media at #celticlive.
Another 155 000 team fans have registered for the Club stadium's CelticLIVE wi-fi system enhancing their match-day experience with live by-the-minute statistics, photo and video content, man-of-the-match voting and commentary.
Simon Hills, commercial director of Sports Revolution said: "Stadium Wi-Fi has huge potential for commercial partners to offer services that enhance the matchday experience for fans.
"Betting is a perfect fit, especially as in-play odds complement the real-time content we are serving fans through the app."
"Live betting is the future of online sports betting, and this is a perfect way to fuel that demand and for us to make a mark. We expect it to take off with other clubs and wanted to get in early with this first application at the UK's first fully connected stadium, Celtic Park."
Ed Nicholson, Head of Unibet's UK Marketing Operations, added: "We are excited by the potential of stadium wi-fi for matchday betting, allowing us to add a new dimension for fans. We are one of the UK's fastest growing betting sites and we want to be ahead of the game in the technology we use."
Fans will be made aware of the expanded service via the pitchside LED screens and concourse TV system.
