Unibet Goes It Alone On Poker (update)

Gambling group cuts its poker ties with Microgaming

Unibet's decision to cut ties with Microgaming for its poker offering in favour of a more recreational and socially oriented stand-alone enterprise (see previous InfoPowa reports) took shape this week when the company completed its transition to real-money action after a two-week beta testing phase and switched the Microgaming software off.

The new product is focused on recreational activity with a strong social networking bias that includes achievements and mission levels and a ban on the tracking and analysis tools so beloved of "shark" style players.

Unibet is providing its own performance statistics, starting by claiming that it has over 500 concurrent real money cash game players.

The company has plans to market its concept and site heavily in Europe.
