Uk Software Providers Reminded To Apply For Licensing In Order To Supply Uk Licensed Operators

Avoid disruption once in force from March 31, 2015

The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) published a reminder this week informing software providers that they need to apply for a Gambling Commission licence if the businesses they supply are licensed by the Commission.

As of March 31, 2015, the UKGC requires licensed operators to source their gambling software from UKGC-licensed software firms.

"Licence applications normally take six weeks to process but can take longer if the application is incomplete or the Commission needs to investigate further," commented a UKGC spokesperson. "We are therefore advising software providers who need a licence to make their applications as soon as possible and preferably before ."

An operator requires a gambling software licence if it manufactures, supplies, installs or adapts gambling software that is used in connection with remote gambling.
