Deal will see Ted the teddy bear featured in free-to-play social gaming slot
The raunchy, hard-drinking comedic cartoon teddy bear created by Seth MacFarlane and dubbed simply "Ted" is to feature in one of Zynga's free-to-play social slots in the "Hit It Rich Slots" series.
According to a report in the publication Variety, the new slot is already available on Facebook, but has not yet made it to the mobile app of Hit It Rich for iPhone and iPad.
The game includes clips from the Ted movie, along with sound track cuts.
Joe Kaminkow, Zynga's chief game designer, told Variety that "Ted" had proved very popular with the twenty-something and mainly male demographic, becoming part of the pop-culture. This is likely to be refreshed when the movie Ted 2 is released next year.
The "Hit It Rich" free-to-play slot series features several celebrity-based themes that include "Wizard of Oz," "Sex and the City," "Beverly Hillbillies," "Elvira," "Duck Dynasty" and "The Terminator."
Zynga has been trying to diversify with new games like "Hit It Rich" and by boosting its focus on mobile games, Variety reports.
"Hit It Rich" launched on Facebook in December 2013 and has already attracted1.5 million 'likes'. Zynga claims that its social casino, which includes Hit it Rich and a poker game, has been played by more than 350 million users to date.
The movie "Ted" has grossed more than $540 million worldwide at the box office, positioning it among the top-grossing R-rated films.
