Simon Johnson Promoted to Senior Vice President at Scientific Games

The US based Scientific Games have today announced the promotion of Simon Johnson to the position of Senior Vice President and Managing Director EMEA ( Europe Middle East and Africa ). Johnson had been leading the UK function of the Las Vegas headquartered casino game developer since last March and his new position sees him oversee and lead the company’ teams in Europe the Middle East and Africa ( EMEA ).
Johnson has been with Scientific Games for nearly four years, starting his career with the company as Commercial Director for the UK. His new position will also see him head up the Sales and Operating activities for the EMEA region.
As part of his new responsibilities, Johnson will play a key role in driving the Company’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, while setting the course of strategic direction, pursuing growth opportunities and best in class practices for the region. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, he has led the wider UK team in its response, including playing a central role in combining the UK and EMEA businesses.
Prior to commencing his career with Scientific Games, Johnson has worked in various industries, whereby he initially started out in the Investment Banking sector, specialising in mergers and acquisitions and cross-border transactions.
Additionally he has held senior positions and leadership roles in held in Private Equity, Telecommunications, and Financial Technology businesses in operations that ranged from startups to FTSE100/Fortune 500 multinational companies.
With offices based in six continents, Scientific Games are ultimately behind some of the most recognisable casino games to feature in land based and online casinos, such as the Zeus Slots, Bruce Lee, Wizard of Oz and of course everyones ‘marmite’ slot that is the Raging Rhino.
Simon Wright has been both a player and an observer of the online casino industry for over 15 years. His knowledge of the online casino industry – to include sports is massive. Not many folks have the experience or his knowledge about online gambling. His adoration of football is also noted. He has painted his house blue (Chelsea) and annoys his neighbors with local football songs on game days.
