Real Gaming Poker Passes Test Period In Nevada Market

Nevada regulator approves South Point's online poker enterprise after eight-month testing phase

The Nevada Gaming Commission has approved the full operation of South Point casino's online poker operation Real Gaming following an eight-month test phase that started in February this year (see previous InfoPowa reports).

Real Gaming is now in full-on competition with other Nevada-regulated online poker sites operated by WSOP.com and Ultimate Poker.com, offering tournament and cash game action delivered across multiple platforms that include PC and Mac computers, smartphones and tablets.

The approval for completion of the test phase was recommended at a special meeting of the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Real Gaming COO Lawrence Vaughan certified that there had been no geolocation or player verification issues throughout the test period, in which the online service was marketed to South Point's customer base.

With the Commission's approval of the test phase, the marketing drive would be expanded to all Nevada poker players, he said.

Vaughan noted that during the test the online poker website did not appear to have influenced the growth of the company's live poker room.

Last month, Real Gaming announced a partnership with 7-Eleven stores in Nevada, allowing customers to deposit onto the online poker site in-person at the locations.

The firm also announced that players can deposit at any Family Dollar store in Nevada. To make a deposit on-site at any of these locations, the process requires customers to print or download to a mobile device a payment barcode from RealGaming.com.

In related news, the Nevada Gaming Commission gave its permission for the transfer of an almost 11 percent ownership stake in Caesars Interactive Entertainment to Rock Gaming, a joint venture partner with the Caesars Entertainment parent group in the Horseshoe Casinos in Cleveland and Cincinnati and the recently opened Horseshoe Casino Baltimore.

Caesars Interactive operates the World Series of Poker and Caesars Entertainment's online social gaming businesses.
