$413,000 pay day for poker pro in the Euro 10,300 Single Reentry event
28-year-old Massachusetts poker pro Nick Petrangelo banked an impressive $413,000 this weekend after taking down the Euro 10,300 buy-in Single Reentry event at the European Poker Tour Barcelona tournament – the first of this year's 13th EPT series.
With 195 uniques and 45 reentries, the event generated a prize pool of Euro 2,328,000.
Petrangelo bested the field of 240 to take the honours after a prolonged and intense battle at the three-handed stage of the final table against Marcin Chmielewski and Markku Koplimaa, with the trio fighting it out for just on four hours before Koplimaa was eliminated.
That left Petrangelo and Chmielewski tangling in the heads up to decide a winner, with Chmielewski holding a significant chip lead.
However, over the next half-hour Petrangelo managed to double no fewer than five times, and on the fifth was able to leverage his advantage into a victory, sending a worthy foe home with the second placing prize of Euro 285,410.
Other final table pay-days included:
Markku Koplimaa Estonia Euro 220,230
Roman Korenev Russia Euro 173,670
Pavel Plesuv Moldova Euro 134,100
Kitty Kuo Taiwan Euro 101,500
Enzo Del Piero United Kingdom Euro 75,900
Yang Zheng China Euro 57,270
