Paddy Power Betfair Closing Gibraltar Office *updated*

Staff will be relocated

Paddy Power Betfair will be closing its Betfair office in Gibraltar this coming August, according to a report from EGR Intel.

Roughly 20 members of staff will be relocated to the company’s Dublin and London offices.

Phill Brear, Gibraltar’s gambling commissioner said the news came as no surprise despite the operator’s previous commitment to maintaining a Gibraltar presence.

The decision is believed to be a cost-cutting exercise related to the Paddy Power Betfair merger rather than anything to do with Brexit.

Update:

The operator has confirmed that they will be giving up their Gibraltar gaming licence with the goal of simplifying and centralising operations within the merged group. They will continue to operate under an MGA (Malta Gaming Authority) licence.
