New Poker Movie To Star Ryan Reynolds

Mississippi Grind due for release later this year

The publication Entertainment Weekly reports that a new film based on poker, titled Mississippi Grind and starring Ryan Reynolds will be released later this year.

Reynolds plays a peripatetic poker player who heads for a high stakes tournament in New Orleans with a rather dissolute partner, played by Ben Mendelsohn.

Script writer Ryan Fleck described the plot as a character piece in which both leads have differing agendas.

"Gerry (played by Reynolds) wants to win money and change his life and pay off his debts. Curtis" (the Mendelsohn character) motivations are a lot more mysterious. We don't know why he's going on this journey till it reveals itself later on in the movie."
