Massive Milestone For Pokerstars

One billionth hand tournament pays out handsomely

The world's biggest online poker provider has achieved yet another massive milestone, celebrating its one billionth hand this week by hosting a major $109 buy-in tournament that carried a guaranteed $2 million prize pool and attracted 34,081 players, building a pool more than a third larger than the guarantee at just over $3.4 million.

Adding a little sugar to the action, the poker provider also lashed out over $200,000 in randomly awarded extra prizes over the first two-and-a-half hours of the event.

Just over 15 hours from the start, a Uruguayan player with the handle "kofi89" was declared the winner, taking home $329,586. His very worthy German opponent in the heads up, "kaveh001", took home $241,566, with the six figure pay-outs extending right down to the fourth finisher.

Other final table prizes were:

3 – zardy912 $177,050

4 – Joas "No Limit NL" Mudde $129,780

5 – svendottke $95,120

6 – dzambur $69,729
