Runner-up Doug Polk creates another Twitch streaming record in this event

The World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) delivered more excitement and records this week when the NLHE 8-Max High Roller was decided after a tough head up battle featuring Phillip "Grindation" McAllister and Doug "WCG|Rider" Polk after the duo survived a starting field of 356 (278 entries, 78 re-entries) that created a massive prize pool of $3,560,000 for the $10,300 buy-in event.
Before reaching the heads up the duo had to negotiate a three-way chop with third-placed Finnish player €urop€an, a deal that left $71,200 on the table for the winner, and allocated $459,529.71 to €urop€an; $455,000 to Polk as runner up and $513,215.23 to the winner, McAllister.
The $71,200 left on the table gave McAllister a total first prize of $584,415.23 when he emerged the winner.
With his runner up prize of $455,000 Polk convincingly broke the existing record for biggest prize won whilst streaming action on Twitch – Euro 250,000 established recently by PokerStars player "SolidPenis".
In all 39 players cashed, with the following other final table prizes claimed:
Alexandros "mexican222" Kolonias $263,731.20

Brian Cullingworth

Infopowa news was a staple of Casinomeister’s news from 2000 until 2019. Brian Cullingworth was the main writer, contributor, and was one of the most knowledgeable persons I have ever known involved in the online casino industry.

We first met in January 2001 at the ICE in London where I observed him going booth to booth interviewing online casino, software, and licensing jurisdiction representatives. Brian was also heavily involved with our forum as “Jetset“, he was involved as an informal consultant to eCOGRA, the OPA, and was a player advocate who assisted countless aggrieved players with his connections to industry folks. He also published “Casino Cautions” via Infopowa news for quite a number of years. These can be found in our news archives.

His passing in February 2019 was a dark day for us. He will be forever missed.
