KSA Considering a Total Ban on Ads

By Natasa Milojevic, Last updated Jun 12, 2025

The Dutch Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit, or KSA) seems to be chewing over a complete ban on gambling ads — all because of operators flouting the already-in-place rules.

At least that’s what Renske Fikkers, the KSA’s head of market supervision, said at the Gaming in Holland 2025 conference. The advertising violations are cropping up left and right despite the KSA’s really stringent rules on targeted advertising.

Based on what Fikkers said, the KSA isn’t super excited about putting an end to all things gambling ads, especially since they’ve already prohibited non-targeted advertising for online gambling back in 2023. So, a hardline stance has been in place all along, but apparently, not every operator has been playing by the rules.

Is the KSA bluffing, or should we take their stance really seriously at this point? Guess we’ll find out. Eventually.
