Frieberger Stands Down as CEO of 888

Chief operating officer, Itai Pazner, to take the lead

Itai Frieberger is stepping down as chief executive officer of 888 after fourteen years with the business and will be succeeded by chief operating officer Itai Pazner with immediate effect.

Prior to becoming COO in 2017, Pazner spent more than six years as Senior Vice President of the Group’s B2C Division where he oversaw the development of 888’s brands as well as having oversight of the Group’s marketing, customer support functions, and operations.

Frieberger will remain a Director of the Group for up to 12 months during his notice period which will assist in enabling a seamless transition of responsibilities to his successor and support the progress of a number of the Group’s strategic initiatives that are already underway.

Brian Mattingley, Non-Executive Chairman of 888:

“Itai Frieberger has been instrumental in driving the transformation of 888 into one of the world’s leading online gaming companies.

“The Board understands and accepts Itai Frieberger’s decision to step back from the day-to-day running of a global business and, in order to ensure a seamless transition, we are delighted that he will remain on the Board of 888 over the coming months.”

“In Itai Pazner we have the ideal successor as CEO. Itai is a highly experienced and dynamic operator who has developed a unique understanding of 888 over the past 17 years within the company. He has a fantastic track record within the Group having helped to drive 888’s growth in a number of new regulated markets and overseen significant product and marketing innovation during recent years.

‘Itai Pazner has worked closely with Itai Frieberger for a number of years, especially in his most recent role as COO, which will enable an effective and seamless transition.”

“On a personal note, Itai Frieberger and I have worked closely together for many years and he has been a fantastic colleague. He has made a truly outstanding contribution to 888 and, on behalf of everyone at the company, I would like to thank Itai for his truly exceptional achievements and dedication.”

Infopowa news was a staple of Casinomeister’s news from 2000 until 2019. Brian Cullingworth was the main writer, contributor, and was one of the most knowledgeable persons I have ever known involved in the online casino industry.

We first met in January 2001 at the ICE in London where I observed him going booth to booth interviewing online casino, software, and licensing jurisdiction representatives. Brian was also heavily involved with our forum as “Jetset“, he was involved as an informal consultant to eCOGRA, the OPA, and was a player advocate who assisted countless aggrieved players with his connections to industry folks. He also published “Casino Cautions” via Infopowa news for quite a number of years. These can be found in our news archives.

His passing in February 2019 was a dark day for us. He will be forever missed.
