French Regulator To Remain Autonomous

Political attempt to merge regulator with other government organisations fails

A proposal by French politician Jean Luc Warsmann to absorb French online gambling regulator ARJEL with other government administrative bodies has been rejected by lawmakers in the National Assembly, who argued that a transfer of responsibilities to a government department would create a significant conflict of interest.
Ruling Parti Socialiste (PS) representative Barbara Pompili said that this was not the right time to consider a major change in the regulation of iGaming.
