Dutch Remote Gambling Act Pushed Back Further

The Dutch gaming regulator Kansspelautoriteit have today confirmed that the much anticipated ‘Remote Gambling Act’ will now not come into force until 1st March 2021, a delay of two months from the previous scheduled date of 1st January 2021.
In making this announcement the KSA have also confirmed that on 1st September 2021, the online gambling market will open in Holland. Sander Dekker, the Minister for Legal Protection of the Ministry of Justice and Security, in a letter to the Lower House of the Dutch parliament has confirmed the timetable of events and the new dates involved.
The KSA have also issued a press release concerning the Remote Gambling Act which reads: “The Remote Games of Chance Act legalises and regulates online games of chance under strict conditions, but it also has consequences for the current country-based providers of risky games of chance.”
“For example, arcades and locations of Holland Casino will have strict requirements in the field of addiction prevention and advertising.”
It is understood that a large number of operators have applied to the KSA for licence to operate a remote gambling business in the country.
