D.d.o.s. Attack Disrupts Swedish Poker Event

Svenska Spel cancels first event of the Swedish Masters tournament

Svenska Spel, the organiser of the 2014 Swedish Masters online poker tournament, was compelled to cancel the first event of the tournament and refund 1,451 players due to a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) assault this week.

A spokesperson for Svenska Spel told the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet that the company had suffered a number of DDoS attacks over the weekend, causing it to initially pause, then cancel, the event.

The spokesman did not give details on the attacks, which the company successfully fought off.
