Pokerdom site chosen to debut new online poker variant
The Russian-facing online poker site Pokerdom has expanded its existing games offering with the addition of the newly launched Connective Gaming product Pineapple Open Face Chinese Poker.
Pineapple OFC is a new and trending poker variant that is starting to gain traction in online poker rooms after creating a significant impact in the live environment.
In Pineapple OFC players take turns drawing cards from a single deck, trying to make the best possible hand. Unlike other poker games, however, there are no bets placed during the rounds of play. Instead, the players agree to play "per point" and the game is scored in points.
It's a game for three players in which every player at a table takes one seat with three boxes for 13 cards: three cards in the front hand (the highest box); five cards in the middle hand, and five cards in the back hand (the lowest box). Players arrange their hands into poker combinations; the back hand must be stronger than or equal to the middle hand and the middle hand must be stronger than or equal to the front hand.
The goal of the game is to achieve more points than opponents by winning more hands and also by collecting "royalties" on premium hands. These are bonuses awarded along the way for special hand combinations.
"Our Pineapple OFC games have received a great response from players," a spokesman for Pokerdom revealed this week. "It's a variant that has been only been in existence for a couple of years, but is spreading like wildfire."
