Chen Takes Hpt Poker Tour Main Event At The Commerce Casino

Final player to register becomes last man standing

Jonathan Chen emerged victorious playing through a tough field at the nationally-televised HPT Poker Tour Main Event held at The Commerce Casino in Los Angeles.

The recent college graduate, who earned $159 780 and an HPT title, defeated David Rosenbloom heads-up in just sixteen hands.

The tournament had 583 entrants for around the U.S., building a prize pool of $845 350, but all nine final tablers live in California.

Commerce is the second of four California stops that make up the second annual Gold Rush series. Players compete for points in preliminary events and the Main Event at each stop. The player with the most points at the end of the series earns a sponsorship package to play the HPT Main Event in Las Vegas in November.

Final table results were:

1 Jonathan Chen $159 780

2 David Rosenbloom $112 010

3 Danny Geyser $72 020

4 Bruce Kramer $53 340

5 Peter Hengsakul $39 990

6 Chris Hyden $32 040

7 Ron Jenkins $26 710

8 Jeff Madsen $21 300

9 Gary Hawkins $15 980
