Changes Ahead For Microgaming Poker Network

End February date set for S&G improvements

Microgaming's Poker Network has unveiled planned improvements to its Sit 'n Go offering, inviting public comment on the project to ensure that a favourable product emerges when the changes are implemented end February.
Head of poker Alex Scott revealed the upcoming changes in his blog this week, commenting that the aim is to standardise and improve the product to deliver more value to players through longer engagements.
The plans include an increase of 500 in the number of starting chips for regular and turbo S&Gs, although Super Turbo competition starting stacks will remain at 500 chips.
Players in turbo tournaments will have 3 seconds more time to react, their time bank will double to 30 seconds, and levels will be prolonged by a minute to 6 minutes.
Super Turbo players will similarly have an 18 instead of 15 seconds reaction space; a five second increase in time bank to 15 seconds; and levels will be longer at 3 minutes instead of the present 2 minutes.
Scott also has plans for Double Up S&Gs which include an increase in buy-in, allowing those who enjoy this format to keep playing but encouraging more recreational players to participate in other competitions.
The increase here is ameliorated by reducing rake costs in other S&G games as proposed here: http://www.mpn.poker/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/New-SNG-Fees.png.
Poker fans can also look forward to more treats, it appears. The MPN team will soon be trialling some interesting new formats that include multi-table and super bounty S&Gs
