Betway Refutes Belgian Gambling Commission Investigation (Update)

Company fully discloses all required information, compliance and regulatory chief says

In a brief media statement, Betway refuted multiple media reports that it was under investigation by Belgian authorities saying it had not received any communication from the Belgian Gambling Commission that this is the case.

InfoPowa readers will recall those reports indicated that Betway had been criticised by Belgian authorities for alleged links to various companies mentioned in the Paradise Papers, a set of 13.4 million leaked confidential electronic documents relating to offshore investments involving legal firm Appleby, corporate service providers Estera and Asiaciti Trust, and business registries in 19 tax jurisdictions.

Betway faces some serious allegations including a “lack of transparency” around ownership and questions surrounding its multiple licenses, The Brussels Times reported at the time.

“Betway is regulated in multiple jurisdictions, and it fully discloses all required information to the relevant regulatory authorities in all of these jurisdictions,” Roger Parkes, Compliance and Regulatory Affairs Director for Betway said.
