Outdated promotion distributed in error
Coral Interactive advertising was the subject of scrutiny again by the UK Advertising Standards Authority, the fourth time in the past fortnight.
The ad in question was an email offering new customers a GBP 20 free bet on placing their first GBP 5 sports bet. Terms and conditions stated that the bet had to be placed within 14-days of account registration to qualify for the GBP 20 free bet offer.
A single complainant on placing the bet was informed that the promotion had ended and challenged whether it had been conducted fairly.
Coral apologised, saying the promotion in question had run prior to the Grand National and had been replaced with a new promotion. The erroneous distribution of the outdated promotion was due to an oversight by its third-party email provider.
The ASA told Coral Interactive to ensure that they did not circulate outdated promotions to avoid causing players unnecessary disappointment.
