It appears that Youtube has banned live streaming under the new data protection banner. My guess is that it is only a matter of time before Twitch will ban live slot streaming too.Is this maybe just the start of the beginning of the end for those who profit from subscribers online?

I hope not, because there are a lot of decent people who stream and post gambling videos. It does appear looking at Twitter today, that even some non-streamers - those posting just pre-recorded slot win videos - have been banned too.

There is a big gap in the market IMO for someone with the knowledge to set-up a dedicated gambling streaming / video site. Just a matter of time who strikes first and gets there.

I heard that they're also looking at banning videos which include affiliate links, under a clause in their T&C. Which prohibits the use of third-party advertising.
Which seems fair enough to me. It's one thing for an average player to post a video celebrating a decent win.
But another thing for those who glorify gambling by playing just to make videos to post continuously, in order to sign up players through their affiliate links.

I couldn't care less as most of those streamers annoy the sh*t out of me with their OTT omg another big massive win pre-scripted show.
Very little streamers I find credible and worth watching. To point out, a few I do like and they play mostly in my bet range and not those stupid €10 - €50 stakes per spin.
They play with massive bonuses and prey on their viewers who basically pay for their gambling habits.
They mostly play stakes a normal player could not afford which also causes real danger i.m.h.o because unexperienced players will try to copy them, trying to get that kind of wins and lose their whole bankroll every time they play wondering what went wrong.
Most of those streamers do not really warn about the dangers of gambling, all they want is the viewers donations and them to subscribe to the casino the streamer promotes so heavily.

And the normal player, Joe regular will be happy to hit one of them big wins in a year.

We had the discussion before and this is just my honest opinion, I do not trust most streamers.

I am ok with this. I really do not see the fun of people gambling with most of the time not their own money and making shows when they have a "big win" of € 30 on some Quickspin slot. All that fake enthousiasm.

I think there is a certain inevitability about it because of the compliance regulations that are being enforced in certain countries. It's an area I work in right now, with operators mainly but also affiliates and a common question I am asked is how to monitor what is said in live broadcasts. Afaik that is largely impossible to monitor. The issue is, if one streamer says something stupid like they gambled their way out of debt and that streamer has a financial arrangement with an operator, that spells big, big trouble for everyone.

Another issue is age groups. Platforms like Youtube have under 18s on there and it's all well and good saying you have to put 18+ symbols and warnings up but there is a real drive on underage gambling at the moment. Is it possible to prevent children watching streamers? I'm not sure.

That said, Youtube isn't the only platform and I think others would be less willing to pull the plug.

Some good points made on this thread, both for and against.

Personally, I don't care. I'm in the caveat emptor and laissez faire camp when it comes to responsibility.

I have noticed, however, that if I try to play after watching one of these streaming vids, I don't tend to fare very well at all. :)

AKA "I don't like it, therefore I'm OK with banning it"

What it boils down to, and what most people forget - you are using someone else's website. The same goes for Facebook. Never use another person's or company's website as if it your own.
In that case, shouldn't it be called "Ourtube... but you can donate all your content, if you like"

I do enjoy some of the youtube slot player vids, but I did wonder would youtube allow the casinos a free channel to promote their sites which is effectively what the affliated players are doing?

On the other hand it drives traffic onto youtube, so they do benefit from these popular channels, also I would put the streamers in a different category to the 'highlights' style videos, I prefer the latter and think they're not mis-selling a ' false gambling slots lifestyle' as much as the streamers, the streamers always want to have a webcam on filming them so they can over act with their daily big wins. I can't see Dunover introducing a webcam now as he likes to have an occasional parp :eek2: and this would be a bit much to see as well as hear.

But there are all kinds of commercial enterprises hawking their wares on YT, most of them do, in fact, in one way or another. I imagine online casinos are probably on the banned list, so this was an outlet for them.

Hopefully the ban the affiliate nonsense, its disgraceful that people like Nickslots get unlimited 100% matched bonuses, stream pretty much every day make money off donations AND rake in all the affiliations fees off their players they refer losing all their money.

Something about Nickslots really annoys me, it's just my personal opinion but I feel he's a very fake person and wants to make as much money out of people as possible. (He does make charity donations which is his one saving grace but makes you question how much he takes of his referals losses that he can afford to lose 10% of every cash out he makes)

Correct decision.

Too many entice a young audience to take up gambling playing with money that in some cases is not even their own at silly stakes. Youtube should never allow any sort of gambling content, but I find it even more crazy Twitch which is largely a under 18 site allows it. Hopefully they follow suit soon and ban it too. Gambling should be treated like smoking and drinking, but right now it's not.

I think big companies pay a tenancy or else YT would overlay their videos with their own ads?

There's definitely something about live streaming YT don't like as a few channels were censured before the GDPR and current furore. Live streaming can't be censored like pre-recorded stuff and you used to see casino banner ads on their channels and videos which stopped as YT didn't like the gaudy overlays etc. plus the ads were in conjunction with live commentary encouraging viewers to use the links. There are thousands times more slot video channels than live streamers and also these aren't sponsored by a specific business like some streaming channels.

The streamers' videos are still there though as are some streaming channels.

I'm too much of a fuddy duddy for sites like twitch, definitely risky for the under 18's, though, that use twitch and its getting youngsters to associate playing slots with playing video games.

It will get shut down on twitch I think at some point. Not because its mostly a fake section but with all the new laws and regulations coming out and twitch trying to promote responsibility.

There has been some blatant proof that alot of the streamers are fake yet nobody cares and just keeps on pretending its real.

These streamers are getting filthy rich from being fake. Its mind blowing people enjoy watching fakeness and then act like its actually real

Twitch I can understand as its demographic mainly consists of younglings, Youtube however can stick their sanctimonious posturing in their pipe. Surely a case of 'adults' going without to spare the poor impressionable kids again

Not that I watch streamers, but YouTube's age ratings on videos should suffice. By shielding kids from this it's just as likely to make them more curious, and could actually prove to be counter- productive...

Well that sucks. :( As I know some do live streams from live casino's now on youtube. I wonder if you can still talk about slots as I have been thinking of like a podcast type thing but with live chat somehow or somewhere? Wonder if twitch will still allow poker streams?

When I stream on Twitch, I use the age restricted rating so if people want to watch it, they basically have to click that they are over 18. I would hope that most people who stream slots on Twitch also have that setting enabled. I do wish something could be done to most of the fake streamers out there that clog the section since there are a few streamers in there that are fun and entertaining...
