Last new release from these 2 was Gem Rocks and Asgardian Stones, released on the same day, with similar game theme. Next week it's Easter Island released on the same day as Hotline. In April, Lucha Maniacs will be released on the same day as Archangels: Salvation. Yggdrasil have a release in May with Vikings go to Hell, which will be their biggest release of the year so far, and I haven't seen anything on Netent's roadmap for May, but whatever it will be, I'm willing to bet it will be released on the 24th of May

So what is the thinking behind this? I feel it is Netent being slightly annoyed by Yggdrasil stealing their new game release thunder, and syncing up releases as most Casino's still might give 10 Free Spins on the new Netent game, making the Netent game more popular.

I haven't really seen this 'competition' with any other providers.

Oh yeah! Netent Slots are reviewed at Casinomeister - to include their associated casinos! Woo woo!
Well Leovegas have an exclusive slot from net ent called swipe and roll. It is not too bad. Played it yesterday. Had some decent wins on it. It is an exclusive at Leovegas though, so not sure other casinos will get it for some time yet.

So to be fair I wouldn't say they are competing with similar slots. I put it down to a coincidence more than anything else.

Also Jumanji from Net Ent is due in a month or 2 as well. Not sure what slot that will be competing with from yggdrasil? :p

Zathura: A Space Adventure

Witchcraft Academy and Jumanji in June, but nothing on the Yggdrasil road map past May so not sure. I do know Yggdrasil are preparing some World Cup promos and some new features should be available

I don't think they're stealing ideas, as in game themes and titles but they are linking up their releases so they are released on the same day, and for a casino, that is not ideal. Ideally you'd want to give one game full exposure, and then the other, but like this you kinda have to choose who to promote.

On another note, I'm pretty sure some of the math developers go from company to company so they might be able to share how the other provider comes up with game titles, themes, etc. I know we had a presentation by Netent with the guy who came up with Spinata Grande, and a girl in our Casino team used to be that guy's girlfriend.
Some swedish guy who had officially changed his name to Tiger or something. Bet he know a thing or two :)

There games are so close in ideas someone has to be saying ok they have a new rock game coming out what do we have in rocks. LOL look at zeplin and dead or alive same slots different skins basically.

The CEO of ygdrassil used to be very senior at netent before founding ygdrassil.

Clearly netent have had some very capable staff over the years and I've often wondered if he took the best talent with him.

If this did happen it might also explain why I've always thought ygdrassil games feel much like the older netent games even down to the gameplay.

I got an answer for this - the reason is simply that most Swedes always get paid on the 25th of the month, and the following weekend has a big jump in turnover compared to the rest of the month. With Sweden being such a big market for both companies it makes sense to release new games around this time.

It's not only Yggdrasil. A lot of Swedish casino game start-ups are to some degree spin-outs from NetEnt. To name a few: Quickspin, Yggdrasil, No Limit City, Thunderkick, Just For The Win

Do they actually get anything, after the horrific taxes are taken out?

Hi Poisson,

Thanks for the response. I heard that in actual fact not too many went to ygdrassil but mostly the companies you mentioned above.

Do you work for a provider by any chance?

As announced for 24th April, Lucha Maniacs is launched yesterday :)

Recommended place where the game is available is, for example Thrills Casino! They also updated their welcome bonus into 50 wager-free spins on Joker Pro (UK players) ;)
