I know that this slot was always a longterm moneyeater due to its "low variance". But my experiences in the last time are horrible. RTP under 50 %. Cost me lot of money. Endless dead spins. Very rare stars (two lines of stars are like 5 scatters at DOA) and when they come they pay nearly always nothing. After their new releases, i assume that netent has lowered the RTP of their most popular slot (not serious :D ).
Have you made similar experiences with this slot ?

It sucks that you are having a bad run. I know very little about NetEnt games, as I just began playing them...but GOD do I love them. True story here, I was down to $0.15 from a $50 deposit at Guts yesterday. Playing only Starburst, I managed to raise that balance to over $150.00 betting 0.10, then 0.40 and finally 0.80 a spin. It seemed I could really do no wrong. Two rows of wilds with 7's and Bars. From there other games took me to well over $1000.00, but in the end I owe it all to Starburst taking me on that wild ride. I guess you just never really know when a game is going to get hot maybe?

Then you should switch to: Magicious a slot from Thunderkick - Higher potential wins, Higher RTP and for sure more frequent expanding/sticky wilds! - I love it, can be played at most TK casinos, for example Casumo.

Starburst is like my ultimate 'Bogey Slot' played on and off over 5 years, never had the 3 stars which I see so many SS of, think being low variance and with the amount of spins I've done on it I'd have least hit the 3 once, even if it dropped the blue or purple jewels either side.

Can't hit owt on it, yet had DOA wild line few times, 4 reel Wild desire couple o times, 1000x bet JATB feature, takes some figuring out huh?

Think we might hit the 3 the day we've got shed loads o wagering to go......

What is wrong with St*rb*rst???

10 things:

1. It's by Netent.
2. It's sh!t.
3. My niece can build a better slot with Lego.
4. It's sh!t.
5. It combines 'Netent Variance' with low variance somehow.
6. It's sh!t.
7. It has soporific qualities.
8. It's sh!t.
9. 15 dead spins-2 small wins-5 dead spins-a star in 3 of the next 10 spins of which 2 pay nothing on respin: repeat, repeat.
10.It's utterly sh!t.

I have never had 3 stars on this slot!

After thousands of spins I have given up an chose never to go back :)

I got it twice but I can't tell you how many spins I've done on it...easily 50,000+

When it's in a good mood it's fun to play. Just a couple of days ago I was losing at every slot and had like $18 left...went to play Starburst to finish my session and somehow managed to end up at $200 @ $0.50 a spin in about an hour of play. That was one unexpected withdrawal.

Thats the problem, i think. Starburst behaves like a mega-high-variance slot without the possibility to win high ;)

Starburst was the first NetEnt slot with the now infamous "Netent variance", which is exactly what you just described.

Former CM member ChopleyIOM described it best:

It really is breathtakingly cynical design on Netent's part, it can't be an accident that they've managed to design a slot that's higher variance than DoA (which we can see thanks to kktmd's superb numbers and graph), and yet is almost inherently incapable of ever giving a player a decent win and getting them back into the game after a bad start. (A bad start which they will almost inevitably have.)

Is it possible to put an entire software onto the 'not recommended' list?

I'm being half serious as well! We all know that the idea of slots is we lose money over time, but at least other providers produce slots where the player has a decent chance of landing a decent win or two and cashing out, whereas Netent are IMO as close as you can possibly get to 'rigging' their slots whilst still maintaining T-RTP and randomness.
