WORLD POKER TOUR LAUNCHES NEW ONLINE CASINO

Powered by Cryptologic, WPT's new jewel is on time and on budget

World Poker Tour launched its new online casino, powered by Cryptologic which also powers its poker operations, this week.

CryptoLogic chief executive Javaid Aziz said: "For CryptoLogic, WPT's new casino site builds on a great partnership that brings together one of the biggest names in gaming with one of the biggest names in e-gaming software. It's exciting to see casino and poker together on this very popular site. Together, we're providing an exceptional entertainment experience to players worldwide."

Under an agreement between CryptoLogic's wholly-owned subsidiary, WagerLogic Ltd., and WPT Enterprises Inc., CryptoLogic will be the sole software provider for the new World Poker Tour.com casino site. In April this year the companies also joined forces in to launch a new Internet poker room for WPT.

The new site will feature a "10-pack" of CryptoLogic's most popular award-winning games. These include Millionaire's Club, CryptoLogic's proprietary mega-progressive jackpot slot that recently paid out the two largest jackpots in online gaming history - more than $8 million and $4 million, respectively (see previous InfoPowa reports).

The site will also feature comic hero favourites like Hulk and Thor in smash-hit Marvel jackpot slots, and the successful casual slot games, Cubis and Bejeweled.

"For WPT, it was important to offer a superior casino experience with integrity and innovation - and CryptoLogic was the natural fit," said Steven Lipscomb, President, Founder and CEO of WPT Enterprises. "CryptoLogic's poker software has been extremely popular with our customers, and by adding some of the Internet's most popular casino games, the player's experience at WPT will be second to none."

World PokerTour.com becomes the latest major brand to join CryptoLogic's casino customer base, which also includes famous names such as InterCasino, William Hill, Littlewoods and Playboy.

"By providing a 'mini-casino' of our top-performing games, we're helping customers build player loyalty - and profitability," said A.J. Slivinski, Managing Director of WagerLogic.

It's been open for much longer than just "this week". I first I heard about it being open in July.

It's nice to have another Cryptologic casino, but I'd enjoy the casino much more if they had a larger game selection. When I played, the only table games were blackjack and roulette. There was no video poker, 3CP, Pai Gow, etc.

You seem to be a bit of a nit-picker AKA - the announcement making the opening official was made last Friday, pre-sent to media.

Casinos occasionally have "soft" launches prior to the official opening.

This is a good move IMO - lets see how many Poker players convert to Casino players (the conversion ratio is always exaggerated)

WPT were Wagerworks before I believe and licenced in Alderney. Does this mean they have dropped that licence and changed jurisdiction aswell Jetset?

Will WPT give intercasino a run for the money. I understand that some crypto casinos are not exactly happy at playing second fiddle to inter.

I have to say I've always found it strange that Crypto effectively have their "own" casino. While it is of course a very good one, I would have thought that it might have impeded licensing somewhat. None of the other reputable providers do it to the best of my knowledge.

Yes, they used to be a Wagerworks casino. They closed the Wagerworks casino in June, then re-opened as a Cryptologic casino a few weeks later. The licensing portion of the terms state:

"WPT Curacao N.V. operates the Games by virtue of authority from a registered license-holder by the Government of Netherlands Antilles."

Other Cryptologic casinos have the same statement.

In short, I very much doubt it. Note that this is a "mini-casino" with a "10-pack" of games. To be more competitive, I think they would need to have a full casino, market it to a greater extent, and promote it to a greater extent on their website & television show (assuming show airs in countries where players are allowed to join).
