Not my bad beat, but a "good" one... I saw a TV special recently "Ceasar's 24/7" (?), where a couple had the hare-brained idea of risking their $1000 life savings to try to get a $10,000 stake to start a Vodka business or something.
Anyway... they were deciding where to play the $1000, and settled on sticking it all on 6 on the Roulette wheel.
Nevermind that such a long-shot was a bad idea if they only needed $10,000, and nevermind that it was a double-zero wheel. Nevermind all that, because 6 was the guy's lucky number, dammit (the 6th was his birthday, and some other equally valid reasons).
So, $1000 in chips slides onto the 6. Suspense mounts.
But wait! At the last second, the guy inexplicably switches it to an even-money, Red bet.
Never mind that's not going to get him his $10,000, and nevermind that he discarded their agreed-upon plan at the last second.
Wife stands by in uncertain support.
Ball goes around, and around, and comes up...
Six. Black.
Couple walks off unsteadily with pale sickly expressions.
And (my guess)... wife takes advantage of liberal Nevada divorce laws that afternoon.
