I have had a rather strange issue with William Hill this morning and I am wondering where I stand and whether there is anything I can do about it. Hopefully this is posted in the correct place...

So, to summarise -

1. In early 2018 I self exclude from Mr Green Casino
2. In early 2019 William Hill purchase Mr Green
3. Today my William Hill account is excluded automatically due to them doing a database match

I have a large number of open ante post bets on william hill, but after speaking with their support I am unable to login until 2023...

I used Will Hill for my sports bets as I was able to exclude Casino access but retain access to sports.

Obviously when I excluded from Mr Green, they had no association with William Hill.

Where do I stand here? Is this standard practice after a merger? What happens to my open bets and any winnings should the bets win?

Thanks
Simon

SE is generally enforced by licensees if not on the Gamstop scheme, in other words SEs are across all casinos under the same license if you exclude from any one of them. WH have done the right thing here according to the UKGC rules, but this is one of those cases where you are justified in feeling aggrieved as WH erring on the side of caution have imported, as you say, a decision based on actions at what was at the time a separate entity. I'm not sure of any precedents here where you could be allowed to keep the non-excluded account open, I'd say not.

Thanks for the response. I was unable to find another time when this had happened from a search, hence the post here.

For clarity, I self excluded at Mr Green on or in September 2018, Will Hill purchased a share in November 2018, so there was no crossover.

What is likely to happen with open bets?

They should cancelled and your money returned. You should be able to talk to CS to get your balance withdrawn.

Not sure that’s right Trance. Pretty sure ante-post bets will just be paid out if they win and money from winnings returned. Don’t think they would be void otherwise what’s stopping me having £10k on Liverpool to win the league then self excluding if they can’t win?

I managed to finally get through to customer support and this is the situation -

1. No chance of reversing the decision/appealing
2. All existing bets will stand
3. I need to phone up and make a manual withdrawl if any win

Luckily I keep ante post spreadsheets.

Yes, this. Don't see any reason why the bets should be voided.
Maybe ask support?

Good point .. you might be right there. Happy to have been corrected :)
