Why a selfie?

Hi,

What is the reason for a casino to ask for a selfie?

I already verified my passport and address etc. I only did one deposit, did not withdraw.

Now they ask for pics of my card (understandable), but besides that they want a selfie of me with my passport and a selfie of me with my bankcard.

Are you requesting a withdrawal? Could be a way of stalling so you play it back. Or perhaps they are just extremely vigilant against online identity theft.

No, I’m not requesting anything. Don’t even have funds in the account. And I already verified name and address when registering

Ive sent in a selfie holding different documents before (birth certificate etc) to a few different casinos. i guessed so they just had a visual record of you, holding docs youv sent them. (i think also in my case it was because i didnt have a passport, or a driving license - two common items - and the alternate was a selfie holding one of the docs id sent them)

I'm busy going through identification stuff with Verajohn at the moment. I really hope you don't have to deal with Lia B on chat or email as she is a f'ing nightmare to deal with.
Already found 2 breaches of the GDPR and one possible license violation.
They also refuse point blank to submit a SAR for me, and even wouldn't supply their DPO's details.
Caught them out in lies in email/live chat too.
Complete joke of a company.

This particular request is basically to prove that you are in possession of your identity documents. It’s unfortunately quite common for people to “sell” their identity to bonus abuse or fraud rings, by asking for a selfie with the documentation it gives the operator reassurance that you are who you have registered as.

It’s not flawless though and many of these groups now request the selfie photo with the scans of your docs. I know on at least one occasion we have asked for a selfie along with that days newspaper or with a news broadcast showing today’s headlines in the background. Low and behold the “account holder” couldn’t provide this despite taking just minutes to provide the standard selfie.

It’s not a common request but I guess they must suspect something to ask for it.

Fair enough... But I only made one deposit (from a card with my name on it, obv.) and already sent in my bank statement and passport.
I’d rather just not play there anymore than send in a selfie.
