Who have you seen in concert/person and who was your favorite? ?

i met marilyn manson at my place of work just a couple weeks ago. dressed in a modest gothic leather motif but otherwise looking ordinary. i didn't treat him like a rock star but i asked him if i could help him to find anything and he requested "looking for something with, like, cobras". all we had were cobra brand cb radios and walkie-talkies. his bandmate bought $100 worth of snacks, dvds, and souvenirs and contemplated purchasing a bunch of the canadian moose socks @ $2/pair. then the next week i read in the paper manson twittered that he has swine flu h1n1, but days later his publicist says it was a flase alarm. nonetheless i probably got breathed on by him and touched him vicariously through his bandmate during the transaction, so i'm a little worried. i feel healthy as an ox though.

prior to that my biggest brush with fame was sporty spice about a year ago. and hedley. bigger stars have come through but they usually stay on the bus (ozzy, backstreet boys).

pevangel I thought I might revive this old post to see if anyone has to add to this. I am sure someone would love to share.

I am so glad you did for I missed this somehow and had a great time reading through all the pages. Thank you!

Now...here are a few of my neat experiences on the concert home front..

Michael Bolton...my most favorite guy..got all his cd's
Ike and Tina Turner... many moons ago when they just started out in a dive in NJ and they were still together
Beach boys....ahh the beaches...
The Commodores
The Temptations
Bill Deal and the Rhondells
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill (won radio tickets while at work)
Dolly Parton and Conway Twitty (this was one of the most funniest experiences ever. Dolly Parton ran down the isle behind us to wards the stage and stopped right in front of my husband who was sitting in the isles seat and leaned over , put his face in between her breasts and SQEEZED and wiggled his face and I think we all laughed so hard we almost tinkled on ourselves. Was a geat show!)
Kenny Rogers
John Edwards phsycic...was very, very wierd..but was a great experience.
Joel Osteen Ministies Live...This was just last month (August 2010)Another great experience that was very good.
And a few others that were forgettable...

.

I've seen some great concerts in the past few years, many of them at Casino Rama.

I think my all time favourite was James Taylor. His voice has not lost one thing, he was so warm and personal, and he and his band were just so obviously enjoying themselves.

My honey and I lucked into front row tickets for Rod Stewart on Valentine's Day in Montreal. We had top price seats, when we got to the box office, he was asked if he would like to upgrade to front row.... Rod had the whole first row, and had just turned in some of his tickets for sale. We were at the end of the row, but Rod worked the whole stage. This was during the American Songbook tour. First set was rockin' Rod and his tunes, second set full orchestra. Third song was "Tonight's the Night" and I persuaded my sweetie to get up and dance with me just to the side.

I have my eyes closed, swaying blissfully, with Jim singing off-tune in my ear, but I am too nice to ask him to stop. But then he starts poking me in the shoulder, and I open my eyes to see what he wanted. We are in the spotlight and on the Jumbotron, and Rod is seranding us! It was a pretty special moment for both of us, one I truly cherish.

But I still think James Taylor gave a better show.

Well I got to see a whopping 2 concerts !

April Wine
Loverboy

Around here, the only bands that are brought in are unknown small town bands who play other bands music so not much chance to see any of the bigger named ones.

My most regret is that I haven't seen my all time fav band CCR (Creedence Clearwater Revival).

I'm a real country and western/50-60's music kinda gal.

Has anyone ever heard of Journey?
I can't believe I didn't see them on anyone's list!

I saw them at Winterland (SF) in 74. I can't remember if it was with the Mahavishnu Orchestra or Yesterday and Today.

I don't remember much of the mid 70s :p

This was before they went "commercial" with Steve Perry.

I am a big fan of Creedence. My father was a fan, so I used to listen to his CD/LPs when I was a kid. And I still very much enjoy their music

John Fogerty has been many times in Norway (solo), but I have never had the chance to see him unfortunately.

Half of my life I've dreamed about Madonna's concert. And when she finally had one, here in Belgrade, I was a bit disappointed. She remixed almost every song, didn't sing many of my favorites (mostly old classics), didn't have a bis and all seemed so symbolic.

Someone said "Never meet your childhood heroes" :D

But, even today I admire her, adore her and she's still the queen ;)

bump.

Just came back from seeing Marina and the Diamonds at the Roundhouse in Camden. Amazing gig.

Marina is perfect in almost every way and knows how to entertain. So glad we caught her final UK leg here in London.....

Hoping to catch Highly Suspect too at some point, talk about a talented band.....a proper throwback of all the best parts of Pearl Jam, Kings of Leon, Soundgarden etc.

i have seen many german and scandinavian bands, from black metal, hard rock to shoegaze/post-rock. but nothing was more exciting than seeing Selim Lemouchi performing live, one of the most talented and creative guitarists of this world and believe me ive heard a lot. it was among the last concerts of the band in 2012, The Devils Blood, after being shortly put to rest and one year later Selim decided to pull the trigger. if any of you like retro/occult hard rock and missed this band you have no excuse:mad:
