Actually, bumping up really old threads is considered bad forum etiquette. Mainly because many of the participants in the original thread could have dormant accounts or just not monitoring that thread anymore. It's called "necrobumping" - bringing dead threads to life.
One solution: you see an interesting (but really old thread) - start a new thread referencing the older one. This guarantees a fresh dialogue and not one that needs to be dusted off.
