Over the past week I have made a few grand from slots, and want to make sure I do not feed it back in... I am paying some bills, buying something nice but want some way I can keep the rest away. I can control myself but have been known to be a bit crazy from time to time.

What would you do with the money to keep it safe?

I would entrust my partner to safeguard it so that if you ever were to ask them for it back you generally have to give a valid reason. If that reason is to gamble more, I think the embarrassment would take over and they would gently remind you what you really ought to spend the money on!

Thats actually a pretty good idea :) May give this a try.

Always the risk she will spend it mind..

I always pay bills ahead of their due date, with my winnings and then maybe double it for a couple of months or so...utility bills, mortgage..etc...buy what I need for the home and make sure my work van is ok..tires, oil change etc.....and then, leave enough for me to gambe again..lol. :).

It took me a couple of years to learn that when I win, I should take care of ME and MINE, not giving back to the casinow...in other words, keep moving forwards and NOT backwards.:)

Grats on your big winnings !!!

If you lack total self-control like myself then its best you expect that some of your winnings will go back into gambling but the important thing is to have a set budget for that (and keep it really small) so the rest of your winnings can be used in a more positive and lasting way - save it up (give to someone to trust who will hold the money for you and not give it back to you until a set time) or spend it on something nice for yourself or someone else.

Last month I had my most winning month in slots and won enough money to buy some things that I otherwise would have saved for and I still kept some of it so I can use to play slots. This month is back to a reality check as I have lost more than I have won but the good thing is even if I lose it all it would have just been a small percentage of winnings from last month. If you got to play since you have won thousands you may as well just play low roller for the fun of it and not for the expectation that you are going to win big again because it has already happen and the chances of it happening multiple times in a row as I have found out is extremely rare hehehe.

Good luck and celebrate your winnings with something that will last!

Good advices here. I have had crazy month already banked over £1500 and just won over £700 more after massive hit on Cazino Zeppelin.

The nice thing is that Saturday I spent £649 on a new nice telly. Bought the latest tv from SAmsung in the 6 Series. 48H6700 which is also 3D and smart tv. It is an absolute GEM for this kind of money and really I could not care about these new 4K screens I will wait couple years hehe. But had nice time today with my fiancee where we saw our first 3D movie on it. Money well spent there :)

So yeah hang in there and make sure you keep most of that money away from the casinos. Believe me it can be hard but mostly days after a big win. Try with your partner or somehow get them put away and set yourself with a reasonable budget. I won those over £700 with just a £30 deposit today so it is possible from lower deposits

its taken me a few years to get smarter but better late than never. I won at the land casino last year $15k. Had $5k in tax taken out, got a $10k check, went home and paid off the last year of my auto loan. Best thing I ever did.

I usually put some of my winnings into some form of investment. I usually put 50% back into gambling, then hit the pawn shop and purchase gold and/or jewellery. Gold is one of safest things to invest/put money into. Even as a safe-keep if you are ever short of cash - as you can just head to your local gold dealer and get cash on the spot. Plus it'll always be valuable, and never crash like hard currency.

Oh yeah, I also bought a telly a year or so back when I had a nice win (back when I was playing at PartyCasino)

Give it to your wife :D

In all seriousness this does work, I know from experience.

Personally I have done quite well recently. I withdraw straight to my current a/c via debit card. I have a few current accounts, and after getting ahead on any bills/necessary expenditure I do this:

As you know, you can do instant BACs transfers from current a/c to current a/c. I have a spare one which I have destroyed the debit card for. I am not due a new one for years! I simply transfer the profits over to that, and cannot touch them because without the debit card I can't even access the online functions. the only way I could touch the cash is to write myself a cheque from it which means going into town, paying it in and waiting days for it to clear. I have accrued a decent 4-figure sum. Remember in the UK base interest rates are 0.5% so saving in a dedicated account yields as little as 0.1% PA.

This is just as well, as yesterday I got hit with a £3k bill from the BMW stealership to get this year's MOT.:mad::mad:

Good in the sense the money is there, but oh! to have spent in on something nice like you lot....:eek2:

Thanks for all the advice guys

Money should be hitting my debit card tonight if I know Mr Green well enough :)

My first purchase is going to be a new laptop, because my 5 year old macbook can do nothing these days! Then some bills.

Then I will follow some of the advice above for the rest :) I have also set limits on all my accounts so I cannot redeposit any large sums :D

My advice is to go on a shopping spree and spend it:

Having it on hand will always be tempting to play it back somehow. But if you spend it on a new home entertainment system (or something likewise), you can always smile when you sit down and load up some new dvds watching them on some massive screen. When you spend your money on something that you can use daily, something tangible, it will only make that win something that you can cherish longer than that momentary initial exhilaration.

Make a list of things you and significant other want - then sort by how important they are to you... then do it. :)

For example: Pay a little extra on the mortgage, buy electronics for you and significant other, donate to the local Humane Society and a Casinomeister charity, put some away for Xmas holiday shopping (whether you celebrate or not that's when I find the best sales/bargains), buy that really spiffy pair of running shoes you've always wanted. If the winnings are substantial, sock some away into a savings/retirement/emergency fund account and never touch it - you will be glad you did as sooner or later it will come in handy.

And congratulations!! Enjoy it!

I'd say it was spent on something nice ^_^ BMW's are class, and James Bond drove one :D

Stick it in an ISA for a rainy day. You'll never regret it. In fact you'll probably forget about it and have a really nice surprise down the line :D

It also gives you extra insurance if you ever have a really, really "crazy" moment and overdo it one day: a safety net!

I always give my winnings to my wife (less what I deposited to begin with). Not for safe keeping; it's for spending! :D

I have everything I need so wouldn't know what to spend money on. I let her go mad in town, get stuff for the house, buy the kids clothes and so on. She's been doing well lately

What winnings :(

Its very rare I even cover my deposits, I would certainly like to no what the casinos do with there winnings as certainly not reinvesting it with all the hassle casino's have had recently.

I agree with Casinomeister just spend it while you got it. I have been pretty lucky lately and that's what I have been doing. Bought myself a new Weber BBQ, new 8 piece patio set and the 3 piece bistro set to go with it, a new Ipad air 2, 4 new barstools, new puppy (Keeshond), took the family and some relatives to Great Wolf Lodge and had lots to gamble with. This has been my thing for a bit now spend it right away so I have something to so for it cause there's nothing worse the pissing back those big wins. Cheers and hope the good luck continues.
